Kate was played by Elisabeth Rohm and she became Angel's connection with the LAPD. She was last seen mid-season two, after Angel saved her from taking an overdose. In the end she said she believed in Angel, as "she never invited him in" to her apartment but he was able to enter to save her anyway.

Maude Pierson was the ghost who was originally haunting the apartment. She murdered her son by trapping him a wall to stop him getting married, and then died of a heart attack. At the end of the episode, we could see the apartment was still haunted, but by the much friendlier ghost of Maude's son Dennis, who Cordelia nicknamed Phantom Dennis.

In this episode, the LAPD had been sent to a sensitivity clas. But it was all set up by Wolfram and Hart, so that they could break a convict out of prison.

This episode of Angel was televised before the "Buffy" season four episode "Pangs," in which Angel returned to Sunnydale without telling Buffy. That did not sit well with her, so she came to L.A. in the "Angel" episode "I Will Remember You".

This was one of the saddest "Angel" episodes for me. When a demon's blood mixed with Angel's, he became human again and he and Buffy get back together. But, Angel realised that as a human he couldn't help people, so he visited the Oracles and asked to become a vampire again.

They did this, but Angel will have to carry the memory of that day so the same thing would not happen again. Buffy was never told, but Angel told Doyle and he told Cordy.

In this episode, Doyle sacrificed himself to save a race of half-demons (Listers), Angel and Cordy. He and Angel argued over who should disarm the device that would kill anything with human blood, but Doyle knocked Angel to the ground, kissed Cordy and then jumped onto the device which killed him. Trevor wouldn't invite Angel in, so Angel had to stand and watch Trevor be killed by two vampires before he could enter the apartment. In this episode, we also saw flashbacks to Angel killing his own family, and we learn that he had a sister named Kathy.

In this episode Angel became a bodyguard to former soap star, Rebecca Lowell, after she realised that she had a stalker. Rebecca then got the idea of becoming a vampire, and drugged Angel, but this gave him false happiness and he reverts to a version Angelus. It was not real, and wore off with the drug.

"Five by Five" saw the return of rogue slayer Faith, who was hired by Wolfram and Hart to kill Angel. This episode followed on from the "Buffy" episodes "This Year's Girl" and "Who Are You", where Faith woke up from the eight month long coma Buffy had put her in at the end of season three.
A storyline continuity error occured at the end. Angel burst into the apartment to save Wesley from Faith, but the man who owned it was still alive.
