Sing a Song of "Animaniacs" Trivia Quiz

Answer: The Monkey Song

Dr. Scratchansniff sings the bulk of this song, which describes the Warners' wacky antics. Among other things, they shave his head with toothpaste, put bugs down his pants, and accost Hello Nurse. Most of the "Animaniacs" main characters appear doing their own things: Squit plays the flute, Pinky and the Brain steal cheese, and Mindy rides a bunch of balloons.

The song is based on Harry Belafonte's "Monkey".

Answer: Anvils

In "King Yakko", Yakko becomes King of Anvilania. He sings "Let the Anvils Ring" while he and his siblings play anvils of various sizes. The Warners are stuck with an obnoxious children's show character in "Baloney and Kids". They get Baloney to sing "The Anvil Song", which causes anvils to fall on him. Baloney doesn't mind having anvils dropped on him and wants to keep singing the song.

Answer: Earthquake

"A Quake, a Quake" is sung to the tune of "The Happy Farmer" and is about a 1994 earthquake. When put on the album "Yakko's World", the lyrics were altered to remove all references to L.A. Most of the main "Animaniacs" cast appear in the short.

Answer: Schnitzelbank

"Schnitzelbank" is a traditional German song, but the Warners put their own spin on it. It begins harmlessly enough with Otto singing some German words, but ends with Otto angrily kicking the kids out of town after they've stripped off most of his clothes. Those wacky Warners!

"Wakko's 2 Note Song" is the first song in an all-song show. Dr. Scratchansniff says that a song can't have just two notes, but Wakko proves him wrong. At the end, Dr. Scratchansniff is trying to write a one-note song with his car horn.

Answer: Magellan

The Warners harmonize in this song about Magellan's hardships on his way to find the East Indies. In the end, he's hit by a spear, and the Warners sing to his ghost. "The Ballad of Magellan" is one of four "Animaniacs" shorts made in widescreen.

Answer: Santa

Wakko has erroneously written a letter to "Santla". Yakko corrects him with the lyric "Santa's name has no 'L'". Other lines see Dot finding "no well" on top of a hill, sailors who "ain't seen no whale", and the Warners singing "a song you know well". In the whale verse, the Warners are wearing very similar costumes to the ones from "The Ballad of Magellan".

Answer: He belches.

He sings at a place resembling the Hollywood Bowl. In separate shorts, he belches the tunes of "The Blue Danube", "Dance of the Hours", and "Jingle Bells". While Jess Harnell normally voices Wakko, Maurice LaMarche provides the burps.

"I act like a nut, so they call me Macadamia." Since Warner Bros. owned the rights to the song "Macarena" at the time, the "Animaniacs" writers were able to use the actual melody in their parody instead of writing music that resembled the original. Many "Animaniacs" major and supporting characters dance, from major characters like Skippy and the Goodfeathers to very minor ones like Pip Pumphandle.

Dot is Aphrodotie in "Hercules Unwound". "Happy Happy Joy Joy" is a song from the show "Ren and Stimpy".

Answer: Dot's Water World

Using the music of "Turkey in the Straw" as a melody, Wakko sings the names of the fifty U.S. states and their capitals. Yakko sings the names of many of the nations of the world to "Mexican Hat Dance". The Warners admit that they sing "Lake Titicaca" only because they like saying the name. "Dot's Water World" is not a song from the show.
