Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. When we first see a flashback of Spike as a human young man in the 19th century, he is attending a party in London. What is he doing?

Answer: writing a love poem

We first see the human Spike via flashback in the episode, "Fool For Love," as he struggles to complete a poem while attending a posh London party. Contrary to his recently stated declaration to Buffy that he has 'always been bad," he looks very much the fey young gent, replete with wavy blonde hair and a pair of spectacles.
2. Before becoming a vampire, Spike is revealed to have been passionately in love with a woman who did not return his affections. What is her name?

Answer: Cecily

Cecily not only does not return Spike's affections, she dismisses him with the words, "You are beneath me!" The two meet again in season six, when the formerly human Cecily is revealed to have traded in her posh ways for a job as a "Vengeance Demon." Both respond very awkwardly to the reunion.
3. Spike first met his longtime love, Drusilla, on the same night that he was spurned by his human love. Where did the pair first meet?

Answer: an alleyway

Crushed by Cicely's rejection, Spike staggers out into the London streets where he bumps into Drusilla as she, Angel, and Darla are walking in the opposite direction. Moments later, she approaches him in the alleyway where he has sought refuge, ultimately convincing him to join the ranks of the vampires.
4. In the process of seducing Spike, Drusilla uses an obscure word that he had previously used in his poem, and which had elicited scorn from his audience. What is the word?

Answer: effulgent

Effulgent of course means "bright or brilliant" and is obviously a difficult word to rhyme as Spike found, much to his consternation.
5. The 19th century human Spike is revealed to have been a mama's boy.

Answer: True

When first talking to Drusilla, Spike tells her that "Mother is expecting me." In subsequent episodes, we see the depth of Spike's affection for his mum when he sires her so that they can be together forever, only to end up staking her when her new vampiric personality causes her to lose all motherly affection for him.
6. After being "sired" as a vampire by Drusilla, Spike kills two slayers, a record in the annals of vampire/slayer history. In which two years did he kill the slayers, respectively?

Answer: 1900 and 1977

Spike killed his first slayer in China, during the Boxer Rebellion of 1900. He killed the second in 1977, on a New York City train, taking from her dead body the black leather duster that would become his trademark.
7. Which British punk rocker did Spike claim stole his "look"?

Answer: Billy Idol

In one season seven episode, a bouncer at The Bronze calls Spike a "Billy Idol wanna-be." Buffy responds by telling him that it was actually Billy Idol who stole Spike's look. Either way, Billy Idol (aka Billy Broad) does look quite a bit like Spike (aka William the Bloody).
8. When Spike and Drusilla first come to Sunnydale, Spike refers to the fact that an angry mob has recently tried to kill Drusilla in a certain eastern European city. In which city did Dru almost meet her end?

Answer: Prague

Upon first coming to Sunnydale, Drusilla, who is in a weakened state, remarks dreamily to Spike that she misses Prague. He replies, "You were almost killed by an angry mob in Prague!"
9. During his early days as a vampire, Spike has no idea what a "slayer" is until he hears the term from the lips of which of his fellow vampires?

Answer: Angel

It is during a physical altercation with Angel that Spike first hears the term "vampire slayer." Upon hearing Angel use the term, Spike responds by asking, "What's a slayer?"
10. During season three of "Buffy The Vampire Slayer," Spike reveals that he and Drusilla are no longer a couple, having broken up in which South American country?

Answer: Brazil

After leaving Sunnydale at the end of season two, Spike returns alone looking for a love spell to mend his relationship with Dru who left him while the pair were in Brazil. In the end, Spike leaves without a spell, having decided that he will just make Dru love him again on his own.
