Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. John Winchester died in which episode(s)?

Answer: "In My Time of Dying" and "In the Beginning" only

When Dean went into the past in "In the Beginning", he watched the beginning of his family's curse play out. The demon Azazel killed John, and Mary made a deal with the demon so he would bring John back to life. Azazel collected on the deal ten years later, infecting her son Sam with demon blood, and killing Mary. John died again in "In My Time of Dying", when he made a deal with Azazel to save Dean, and the demon killed John once again, in exchange for Dean's life this time.
2. Sam and Dean discovered that the angel Balthazar was selling heaven's weapons in exchange for human souls in which episode?

Answer: "The Third Man"

In "The Third Man", a child, Aaron, was using a part of the staff of Moses to kill the police officers that had killed his unarmed brother and covered it up. When Castiel and the brothers questioned the boy, he admitted that he had gotten the weapon from an angel in exchange for his soul. Castiel discovered that the angel was Balthazar, and he and the brothers forced the angel to take his claim off the boy's soul.

When Balthazar helped Castiel in his fight against Raphael, though, Castiel let Balthazar go.
3. In which episode did Sam kill Gordon Walker?

Answer: "Fresh Blood"

Vampire hunter Gordon Walker first worked with and then clashed with the Winchester brothers in "Bloodlust" when they found out he was hunting vampires that were not hurting humans. He then "hunted" Sam in "Hunted", but Sam and Dean got away and Gordon was arrested and sent to prison.

He then sent his hunter buddy Kubrick after Sam in "Bad Day at Black Rock", but the brothers again prevailed. Finally, he went after Sam again in "Fresh Blood", was turned into a vampire, and Sam killed Gordon by chopping off his head using razor wire.
4. In which episode did Sam first discover he could move something with his mind, and Dean told his brother that, "As long as I'm around, nothing bad's ever going to happen to you."?

Answer: "Nightmare"

In "Nightmare", Max trapped Sam in a closet and moved a large piece of furniture in front of the door. Sam had a vision that Max was about to kill Dean and was able to move the furniture with his mind to get out and save his brother. He later told Dean what he had done, and expressed concern that he could become like Max. Dean responded that it would not happen, since Sam had something Max did not, namely Dean, and added this quote.

However, the viewers were allowed to see the concern in Dean's face after he made his reassuring comment to his brother.
5. In which episode did Sam discover that he was the vessel for Lucifer, and in which episode did Dean find out he was the vessel for Michael?

Answer: "Free to Be You and Me" and "Sympathy for the Devil"

At the end of "Free to Be You and Me", Lucifer appeared to Sam in a dream and told him that Sam was his vessel. Sam called his brother at the beginning of "The End" and shared this information. The brothers already knew that Dean was Michael's vessel, since Zachariah had told them during "Sympathy for the Devil", when they were in John's storage space outside of Buffalo, New York.
6. In which episode did Dean first meet the demon Meg?

Answer: "Shadow"

Dean first met Meg in "Shadow", when she arranged to run into the brothers in a bar after luring them to Chicago by killing a couple people from their hometown that were living in Chicago. Sam had met her earlier, in "Scarecrow", when she arranged to run into him while he was separated from his brother.
7. Bobby Singer was an important part of the Winchesters' lives in the first six seasons. In which episode did he first appear?

Answer: "Devil's Trap"

Bobby first appeared in the season 1 finale, "Devil's Trap". The brothers went to him for help getting their father back from the demons. He helped them trap Meg in a Devil's trap so they could question her about their father.
8. What was the only episode in the first six seasons that was in black and white?

Answer: "Monster Movie"

"Monster Movie" was shot in black and white, and set up like an old black and white horror movie, including the way the show presented the credits. The show had a Dracula, a werewolf, and a mummy, but all were actually just different forms for a shapeshifter.
9. "Unforgiven" was the only western-themed episode from the first six seasons of "Supernatural".

Answer: False

There was one western-themed episode, but it was "Frontierland", not "Unforgiven". In "Frontierland", Dean and Sam went back in time to Wyoming in the 19th century, in order to obtain the ashes of a phoenix. "Unforgiven" took place in Bristol, Rhode Island, and involved the brothers investigating a case that Sam had worked with Samuel during his soulless year.
10. Sam and Dean Winchester dealt with a lot of demons over six seasons. However, there was only one episode where one of the brothers was possessed by a demon. Which episode was it?

Answer: "Born Under a Bad Sign"

"Born Under a Bad Sign" was the only episode where one of the brothers was possessed by a demon. In that episode, Sam was possessed by Meg. In "Skin", a shifter took Dean's form. In "Swan Song", Sam was a vessel for the angel Lucifer. And, in "Good God, Y'all", the horseman War convinced people that others were possessed, including Sam and Dean, but they were not possessed.
11. Which of these episodes involved a cursed object?

Answer: "Bad Day at Black Rock"

In "Bad Day at Black Rock", the brothers dealt with a cursed rabbit's foot. "Mystery Spot" involved the Trickster, who later turned out to be the archangel Gabriel. "Yellow Fever" involved a ghost and ghost sickness, and "Mannequin 3: The Reckoning" also involved a ghost. "Wishful Thinking" also involved a cursed object - a coin.
12. In which episode did Sam first meet Castiel?

Answer: "It's the Great Pumpkin, Sam Winchester"

Sam met Castiel in "It's the Great Pumpkin, Sam Winchester" when he appeared in the brothers' hotel room and told them that if they could not stop the witch, a seal would be broken. Dean had already met Castiel in "Lazarus Rising".
13. In which episode did Sam and Dean discover that their father had another son?

Answer: "Jump the Shark"

The brothers found out about Adam in "Jump the Shark". However, by the end of the episode, they found out that their brother was killed, and they had been spending time with one of the ghouls that killed him. They did get to know their real brother a bit, though, in "Point of No Return" when the angels brought Adam back to life, as a trap for Dean.
14. Sam and Dean's mother died in the pilot episode, but she appeared in numerous episodes over the first six seasons. What was the only episode in the first six seasons where she appeared as a ghost?

Answer: "Home"

In "Home", the brothers faced their mother's ghost in their old Lawrence house. Mary's ghost saved them from a poltergeist in the episode. In "All Hell Breaks Loose, Part 1'", Azazel allowed Sam to see what happened the day his mother died, in a sort of flashback.

In "Mommy Dearest", Eve made herself look like Mary. And, in "In the Beginning", Dean went back in time and saw his parents when they were young.
15. Though a powerful demon and a serious foe, Crowley was also an occasional ally for the brothers. What was the episode where they first met Crowley?

Answer: "Abandon All Hope"

Sam and Dean first met Crowley in "Abandon All Hope", when they broke into his house to get the colt revolver. The then-crossroad demon gave them the gun and Lucifer's location. Of course, the brothers later discovered that the colt could not kill Lucifer.
