Grammy winner Whitney Houston was Ms. Le Beauf's competition for the role of Sondra. Ms. Le Beauf won the role for her theater background. She was a classmate of Angela Bassett's at the Yale School of Drama. Of course Janet Jackson was known for her work on "Good Times", "Diff'rent Strokes" and "Fame" before focusing on her music career. Vanessa L. Williams was of course known for many movies and TV guest appearances before "Ugly Betty." There is another incredible actress named Vanessa Williams who guest starred as Denny's girlfriend Jade and later as Theo's girlfriend, Cheryl.

2. How old was Sondra when she was introduced to the audience?

Answer: 20

Sondra's character was introduced in season 1, episode 10 entitled "Bonjour Sondra." She is home for Thanksgiving and asks permission to go to Paris for the summer. Cliff's response is "No 20 year old single woman should be in Paris."

Sondra was encouraged to do out with Daryl, a guy her Friends told her she should meet after having a fight with Elvin. When Cliff and Clair say "call him" Sondra's response is "but Dad he goes to Oberlin, that's in Ohio." Cliff says "We'll fly him in."
