At the time, Lou Ferrigno was 6'5" and weighed nearly 300 lbs, and he was considered the perfect person to play the Hulk. They originally wanted Richard Kiell or Arnold Schwarzenegger. However, as Kiel didn't have the muscle structure of Ferrigno, he was not chosen; Schwarzenegger fell short of the height requirement. Also, Ferrigno outweighed Schwarzenegger and had beat him in a number of amatuer bodybuilding competitions.
