1. This show premiered in 1948. It allowed the audience to see how someone would react in a strange situation. "When it's least expected-you're elected. You're the star today. Smile! You're on ________ ________!"

Answer: Candid Camera

The concept was created by Alan Funt. He would secretly film people's reactions to unusual situations, such as a talking mailbox or a car splitting in half. The results were usually very funny and often had people looking around for hidden cameras whenever something seemed odd or out of place in their everyday lives.

The show aired throughout the sixties and as the "New Candid Camera" in the seventies. Alan's son, Peter, joined him in 1987 and aired more new shows. Though Alan died in 1999, Peter carries on the tradition with occasional specials.
