Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Jonathan was a breakout character on "Buffy." From being a dorky kid in the background of high school life, he went on to be a formidable super-villain...but in which episode did he first appear?

Answer: Inca Mummy Girl

Although not considered canon by creator Joss Whedon, technically, Danny Strong first appeared as Jonathan in the unaired pilot of "Buffy," along with Harmony Kendall, who appears canonically in "The Harvest." Also mentioned in the unaired pilot were Oz's band, Dingoes Ate My Baby, who also don't appear 'til "Inca Mummy Girl." Joss really does plan ahead.
2. "You know, I always loved the story of the last supper. The body and blood of Christ becoming rich red wine." Misogynistic preacher Caleb did have a a query with the story of the last supper though. What was it?

Answer: He wondered what would happen if you had ordered the white

This is just one of many of Caleb's biblical references, all nicely twisted to go with him being a psychopath. Caleb is played by Nathan Fillion, star of Joss Whedon's show "Firefly," where he plays a space cowboy - a far cry from the scary southern preacher he's so convincing as.
3. Every dedicated fan knows that creator Joss Whedon provides the voice of the "Mutant Enemy" monster who appears with his 'Grr...Argghh!' at the end of almost every episode. However, at the end of some episodes, they mix it up a little. Which of these did the monster NOT do?

Answer: He says 'Merry Christmas!'

Not only did Joss Whedon voice the logo, he also drew it. Mutant Enemy has produced all these Joss shows; "Buffy," "Angel," "Firefly," "Dollhouse," and "Dr Horrible's Sing-Along Blog," however, Buffy remains the only one he ever changed the monster for.
4. Brad Kane played Tucker Wells, the dork who attacked the prom with Hellhounds - Buffy disposed of him easily. But in which episode did he return, in voice only?

Answer: "Superstar," as Jonathan's singing voice

More fun facts about Brad Kane - He was the singing voice of Disney's "Aladdin" when he was only 19, and he is married to Sarah Thompson who portrayed Eve in season five of "Angel."
5. When her old friend Ford arrives in Sunnydale, Buffy reminisces about her fifth-grade crush on him, and his rejection of her. Fill in the blanks. "It was terrible. I moped over you for months, sitting in my room, listening to that Divinyls song ____________...of course, I had no idea what it was about."

Answer: I Touch Myself

Just after this exchange, Willow realises for the first time what the song was actually about. Frankly, I don't know how she missed it. Willow also didn't know what was embarrassing about the game "Doctor" because she used to play it by pretending Xander was sick and diagnosing him with old medical volumes.
6. The season five episode "I Was Made To Love You" marks the first appearance of soon-to-be super villain, Warren Mears, played by Adam Busch, who is flayed by Willow in the season six episode "Villains." But, death is not always the end on "Buffy"... How many episodes did Adam Busch guest star in after his character Warren died?

Answer: 5

Adam appeared in four episodes of season seven as The First, and one as Willow ("The Killer in Me".
Warren has since reappeared in the season eight comic book series - as a skinless demonic creature kept alive by Amy Madison. When Buffy destroys 'the Seed of all magic' in the epic comic book finale, Warren, without Amy's magic to keep him going, is finally gone forever. We assume. You can never be sure with Joss.
7. In the phenomenally scary episode "Hush," Buffy dreams of a little girl singing a song to her. The first two lines are: 'Can't even shout, can't even cry, the gentlemen are coming by. Looking in windows, knocking on doors, they need to take seven and they might take yours.' Finish the last line: 'Can't call to mom, can't say a word...'

Answer: You're gonna die screaming but you won't be heard

Whoever chose the music for the silent exposition scene in this episode was giving a quiet shout out to the British mystery drama "Jonathan Creek" in which Anthony Stewart Head played hapless magician Adam Klaus for the pilot. Incredibly, "Hush" is the only episode of Buffy ever to be nominated for an Emmy.
8. The theme tune to "Buffy" was written and performed by the band Nerf Herder, but in which episode did this band actually appear in The Bronze?

Answer: "Empty Places"

"Empty Places" is the nineteenth episode of the final season of "Buffy," and it marks the last appearance of Sunnydale's hoppin' hotspot, so it seems only right that Nerf Herder should be playing. Nerf Herder take their name from a "Star Wars" reference, and were actually recommended to Joss by Alyson Hannigan.
9. Which of these actors have never appeared as a vampire in their tenure on "Buffy?"

Answer: Anthony Stewart Head

Tom Lenk actually played Harmony's minion Cyrus in season five's "Real Me" long before he ever appeared as season six and seven regular Andrew Wells.
In 1997, Alyson Hannigan had "Buffy" makeup artist Todd McIntosh do her up as a vampire for a Halloween party she was attending. Little did she know she'd be playing a vampire version of Willow a few years later, and would have to don the prosthetics again!
10. In the last scene of the last episode, we see the Sunnydale sign fall backwards into the crater that was once Sunnydale. But how many times total in the series have we seen an incarnation of that sign falling over or knocked down?

Answer: 3

The first time, it was Spike's arrival in town, he was vamped out and excited to be on the Hellmouth. The second time - Spike again, but I'm pretty sure he was just drunk that time. In the first three seasons, these signs reveal the town's population to be 38,500, but, interestingly, it had dropped to 32,900 by season seven. Maybe people were finally catching on.
