1. Upon starting a new game, you will get a cut-scene that shows your hometown and where you begin your journey through the Unova region. Where exactly do you start off in "Black" and "White"?

Answer: Nuvema Town

Numeva Town is an extremely small town, not unlike hometowns in previous "Pokemon" games. You only find three houses (one of them being yours, of course) and the Pokemon laboratory.

Answer: Professor Juniper

At the very beginning of the game, Juniper delivers a present to your character's house. The present contains the three starter Pokemon of the game. Juniper will track your progress throughout the game and you will see her at many locations in Unova.

Answer: Patrat

The grass, fire, and water starters are customary in the "Pokemon" games. Patrat is a normal-type Pokemon you can eventually find in the upcoming routes. Tepig is the fire-type, Snivy is the grass-type, and Oshawott is the water-type.

Answer: Cheren and Bianca

Cheren and Bianca will challenge you to your first Pokemon battles. This serves as a tutorial so you can learn the basics of Pokemon battles. You will encounter and battle Cheren and Bianca several times throughout the game. Cheren will always choose the starter that has the typing advantage over yours, and Bianca's starter will have a disadvantage over your starter.

Team Plasma's main goal is "liberating" Pokemon from their trainers. Many times this is by theft which will cause problems for the other citizens of Unova. Your character will have to battle Team Plasma throughout the game and sometimes recover these stolen Pokemon.

As you progress through the game, you will learn that Ghetsis has no compassion for Pokemon, even though he says his aims are to liberate Pokemon from humanity. The other three choices are all leaders of criminal organizations in the other "Pokemon" games. Giovanni, of course, heads Team Rocket, Cyrus is the leader of Team Galactic, and Maxie leads Team Magma.

After a quick battle with N, he will make observations that bear similarities with the speech Ghetsis made a few moments earlier. You will encounter N a few times in the game. Most times you encounter him, he will challenge you to a battle.

An interesting feature in Striaton City is the Pokemon Trainer's School where you can learn other basic strategies for Pokemon battles like attaching berries to your Pokemon to heal themselves in battle. Cheren will challenge you to a battle to demonstrate that attaching berries will heal your Pokemon's HP when it drops below 50%. You can also get a full heal in the Trainer's School if you correctly answer a few questions about status conditions and the items that heal them.

The reason that there are three gym leaders is that the gym battle is a matter of which type your starter Pokemon is weak to. For example, if you started the game with Tepig the fire-type, then you would be battling Cress the water-type user. Chili will use a fire-type and Cilan will use a grass-type.

The gym leaders will always use a Lillipup and one of the "elemental monkeys" Pansear, Pansage, or Panpour.

Answer: Work Up

Work Up is a move that raises your Pokemon's attack and special attack. It can prove quite useful in gym battles. Another bonus is that in "Black" and "White", you can you TMs as many times as you like.
