"Crash Bandicoot": The Original Quiz

The first boss has three H.P., the second boss has three H.P. as well, the third boss has four, the fourth has six, increasing even more to the fifth boss who has nine. It decreases however, for the sixth boss, down to only five H.P.

There are 25 'normal' levels, two 'special (hidden)' levels and six boss battles. Out of the original trilogy for the Playstation, this game has the second highest number of different levels, succeeded by "Warped" which has 35.

Interestingly, the H.P. meter for Papu Papu and Ripper Roo is blue. For Koala Kong it starts of red and goes purple near the end. For the 4th boss it starts off yellow and goes a dark orange. For the 5th boss it starts off green and turns yellow before starting to fade to purple. For Dr. Neo Cortex, it's yellow to red.

Papu Papu is the only boss on Island one. He appears after six levels. Ripper Roo is the second boss, he's on the second island and is the second level on that island. Coincidence? You decide. Koala Kong is the last level on island two. The final three bosses are spread out evenly across the third island with about five levels inbetween them. Apart from the 5th boss and Cortex, there's only two between them.

Alot of fans at first believed this to be a relatively easy level for it's stage in the game. There are only four bad guys in the whole level, only about 30 boxes and a bonus level in there as well. (At this stage, not every level had a bonus in it.) However, it's what these bad guys did that made this level so challenging; and frustrating if you're trying to get the gem.

The first two bad guys throw barrels at you, which roll down a set path. The 3rd bad guy mixes this with ones that bounce. In order to dodge it, you need precise timing.

The 4th guy only throws bouncing barrels. However, if you have a mask or two equipped, the gem should be easily achieved. Note: Rollers are yellow, bouncers are brown.

Those of you who picked 4, and are wondering why it's wrong, 0 is counted as a number. So although 4 is the number that appears when you push triangle, if you lose those four lives, the number 0 will appear when you push triangle. So you are in fact given, 5 lives. This is true for "Cortex Strikes Back", "Warped", "The Wrath Of Cortex" and "Twinsanity."

Note: When fighting Pinstripe (yes it is Pottoroo, I checked. :)) you can take 3 H.P. off of him almost immediately when he runs from one chair to the other, just by spinning him 3 times in succession. Until "Warped" was released, Dr. Nitrus Brio held the record for the highest number of Hitpoints: 9.

Mean, wasn't it? The first sequence is two reds and a green. When he's down to 4 H.P. he uses one red, one blue, one red, three blue, two green. The answer is what he uses on 3 H.P. When on 2 H.P. he uses the fast red sequence. What I mean by that is he shoots them at double speed at you.

When he's down to 1 H.P. he seems to give up and just shoots a green at you, spin it back and well done. You've completed "Crash Bandicoot."
