You begin the game with Vaan's brother, who is also a resistance soldier. After he dies, you start with Vaan and you are tasked to kill Dire Rats. Balthier also entrusts their airship to him in case he dies.

You only get to play him at the very beginning of the game in the Nalbina Fortress. After some tutorials, Reks will end up being killed by Basch's twin brother, Noah.

After obtaining the sluice gate key (which you can get by passing through the Barheim Passage and defeating the White Mousse mark), you can now go back to this place without having to recross Barheim Passage. In this waterway, a hidden esper resides in the middlemost map, but only after several gates have been closed/opened.

10. What do you call the esper that resides in the sewer area?

Answer: Cuchulainn

Cuchulainn, the Impure is the esper of poison. During the battle with him, you will be on a permanent HP Sap until you defeat him, making this battle very costly. Otherwise, he is a pretty decent esper to have, though facially challenged.
