Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What item allows Garfield to have temporary invincibility?

Answer: Coffee

Much like in the Garfield comic strips, Garfield enjoys his coffee, and in the game, a single cup of coffee will allow Garfield to run through enemies (though it won't destroy anyone). Coffee cups can be found in every stage excluding boss areas and once used, they never return. In the game manual, the coffee cup is known as 'Java'.
2. Which stage of the game is in the style of film noir?

Answer: Catsablanca

Seeing as Garfield was sucked into the television, all of the stages of the game emulate classic movies or television shows. Catsablanca is further into the game and it places Garfield into a film noir environment. Using a newspaper to swat dog-catching enemies and cans to throw as foes, Garfield can make his way to the boss of the stage: a dog with bombs.
3. Two different items can refill Garfield's health. Which is one of them?

Answer: Hamburger

Garfield's only ways of replenishing health are by eating hamburgers or pizza slices found throughout levels and boss fights. In the game, Garfield's health is on a scale of one to ten in the top left corner of the screen. Each hit removes one health point. Like in most games, Garfield will lose a life if his health runs out.

Health can not be earned from defeating enemies. It's only found throughout the stages.
4. In the game there is a cheat that allows the player to unlock all of the game's levels. What is the correct order of characters that willperform the cheat?

Answer: Garfield, Glitch, Mouse

Inputting this code into the cheat options will give you a list of stages to visit (on the menu bar) from the very first stage, "Cave Cat" to the "Season Finale" stage at the very end. The list will also include stages where Garfield is reaching the levels in the TV as well as bonus levels that are completed after boss battles.

The list is complete and even includes bosses of the various stages.
5. "Garfield: Caught in the Act" was also released on a few different systems. Which of these systems could play the game?

Answer: Sega Game Gear

The game was released on both the Sega Genesis and the Sega Game Gear as well as the demo PC version. The Sega Genesis and Game Gear versions allowed the player to link up and play 'Lost Levels' that were not featured in the original game. The Sega Genesis and Game Gear versions of the game sold more units than the PC version, which was sold both solo and in a Sega CD set.
6. On the console and handheld versions of the game, there were 'Lost Levels' that the player could have. Which of these was one of them?

Answer: Slobbin' Hood

The console and handheld versions included a couple of 'Lost Levels'. One of these was "Slobbin' Hood", which sent Garfield to a Robin Hood-esque forest, and other was "Bonehead the Barbarian" where Garfield was sent back to viking times. The other three stages mentioned were all in the PC version. In fact, "Alien Landscape" was a PC-exclusive stage.
7. This item allows Garfield to have a checkpoint. What item can Garfield find to do this in various levels?

Answer: Pooky

When Garfield finds his teddy bear, Pooky, floating in various stages, all he needs to do is run through him to have his location saved. If Garfield ever loses a life in a level, he can return to that position in the game and continue immediately. The checkpoint will be shown as active when Pooky is spinning in circles.
8. As a secondary weapon, Garfield always throws an object. What is not an object that Garfield throws in the game?

Answer: Torches

Garfield will always begin the game with a certain amount of throwable objects and in each stage the item will be different in order to reflect the theme of the level. Using one of these objects will do the same amount of damage as the melee attack (swatting the enemy), but the tossable items will also be able to activate switches and hit enemies that are farther away (like certain bosses).

Other throwable items include fish spines, rockets, and tin cans.
9. A bonus game can be found in "Caught in the Act". Which of these games does it mimic?

Answer: Whack-a-Mole

If you happen to find a mallet in one of the levels, you will unlock the 'Whack-a-Mole' bonus game (often completed after finishing a stage) that can now be played from the game's options menu. In the game you must use a mallet to hit the six holes where Garfield comic strip characters will pop out. If you hit the character mentioned at the beginning of the game, then you lose the challenge.
10. What objects are used to defeat the final boss of the game?

Answer: Mirrors

In the final stage, known as "Season Finale", Garfield must use various mirrors to reflect Glitch's electrical shots back at him. Simply move the mirrors by pushing into them. Along the way, Garfield will need to jump to various platforms and continue making his way up a vertical obstacle course until Glitch finally shoots himself to death.

After this, Garfield will teleport back out of the TV.
