These special moves are known as 'No Mercy' moves, or 'Finishing Specials'. They can only be used while the opponent is in Danger, and by pushing the correct buttons, sometimes with the character(s) in certain places.

Anything above 16 hits is an Ultra, and instantly ends the fight (although the opponent has to be in critical on their second life before an Ultra can even be executed). Ultras can range anywhere from 17 to 50 hits! It all depends on when you execute it, and who you are using. Every character except Eyedol can execute an Ultra.

He does! All you need to do is jump towards your opponent, and he will whack them on either the head or the shin with his ridiculously huge club. This move is actually very difficult to block, and it's recommended that you just hit him while he's in the air instead.

If you were to the right of your opponent and pushed these buttons, it would be a 'Half Circle Backwards', and it would be quite likely that you execute a completely different move. They are described as 'Half Circle Forwards' and 'Half Circle backwards' because they are based on the direction that your character is facing.

There are also two others, called a 'Quarter Circle Forwards' and 'Quarter Circle Backwards', which are quite difficult to successfully execute.

They are (in order of size): Triple (3 hits), Super (4 hits), Hyper (5 hits), Brutal (6 hits), Master (7 hits), Awesome (8 hits), Blaster (9 hits), Monster (10 hits), King (11 hits), Killer (12-16 hits), Ultra (17+ hits) and Ultimate.

The Ultimate combo is quite difficult to execute. It involves using a finishing special while in the midst on a normal combo, and can be any number of hits from 3 until 16 (an Ultra can not be made into an Ultimate, for obvious reasons).

This move can be used up to three times consecutively while in the middle of a combo. Strangely, left handed people seem to find it a lot easier than right handed people when it comes to using a 'Half Circle Backwards' move. It also seems to be the vice versa for a 'Half Circle Forwards' move.

The frog is the spitting image of the Winky tokens found on 'Donkey Kong Country'. It would be a lot cooler if Orchid could turn the opponent into Donkey Kong, but unfortunately, a frog had to do.

Also, if you are about to get a supreme victory with Orchid, don't kill the opponent! Instead, do a Half Circle Backwards and press X...

I won't tell you the code, but I will tell you how to get it. You need to complete the game on maximum difficulty, without using any continues. If is quite a challenge at this difficulty, especially if you are playing on an emulator, because a computer is a lot more intelligent than a SNES.

If you do this successfully, you will be told the code. You have to put it in while the vs. screen is showing, and you have to pick Cinder as your character.

Orchid is a secret agent trying to uncover the mysterious deaths associated with the Killer Instinct tournament.

Thunder entered the tournament to find out what happened to his brother, Eagle, upon entering the tournament last year, and disappearing afterwards.

Sabrewulf is a Werewolf who entered the tournament in order to find a cure for his affliction.

Jago is a monk who has been embued with a tiger spirit.

Cinder was once human, but a freak accident caused his entire body to become engulfed in flame. He entered the tournament to evade the pursuing police.

Other characters who are not human:

Glacius is an alien from another planet. He was captured and forced to enter the tournament.

Riptor is a dinosaur that had human genes spliced into him, making him super intelligent, but NOT an actual human!

Fulgore is a prototype destruction robot that was entered into the tournament to see if it was good enough for mass production.

Spinal is an undead skeleton who enters the tournament for no reason, because he has no purpose.

Eyedol is a hideous three headed mutant with a giant club. There is a rumor that he used to be human, but this hasn't been proved either way...
