Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Some Gossip Stones tell secrets that can only otherwise be revealed with the Rumble Feature.

Answer: True

About half of these secrets are found in the middle of rock circles. While the Gossip Stones let you know where the secrets are, you need to either play the Song of Storms or bomb the seemingly ordinary patch of land to access the hole. In fact, you can get 100 Skulltulas in one spot if you enter the secret hole by the moat of Hyrule Castle as a child.

While using the Boomerang, you need to exit the hole before the Token reaches you. When you reenter, the spider will still be there, but you will have the token that was being pulled toward you.
2. One Gossip Stone says the owl Kaepora Gaebora is the reincarnation of whom?

Answer: A sage

Players first meet Kaepora Gaebora when they leave Kokiri Forest. He lets Link know about how time passes in Hyrule and later gives him rides to other places by mounting his wings.
3. Ganondorf rides what kind of horse, according to a Gossip Stone?

Answer: Solid black Gerudo Stallion

When Ganon storms Hyrule Castle and abducts Princess Zelda, he shoves her onto the back of the horse. However, she has the presence of mind to throw back the Ocarina of Time. In the Forest Temple, Phantom Ganon rides a mechanical horse that bears a strong resemblance to his Gerudo Stallion.
4. The prize at the Gerudo Training Ground is well worth the trouble of the puzzle; at least to one of the Gossip Stones.

Answer: False

In fact, the Gossip Stone informs Link that this prize is not as good as you might expect it to be, given the difficulty of the puzzle. Indeed, Link needs almost every item in the game to get the Keys that unlock the doors on the way to the chest with the novelty Ice Arrows in it.
5. What does a Gossip Stone say happens to a Kokiri who ventures out of the forest?

Answer: They become a monster.

Specifically, the forest people who venture into Hyrule become Skull Kids. These monsters like to play with other children, but attack any other adults, including Link in the latter part of the game. This is why Mido guards the exit to Link's hometown, thinking that he is one of the Kokiri people.
6. What does a Gossip Stone say is prohibited in the Treasure Chest Game?

Answer: Glasses

The reason for this is apparently that Hylians with good enough vision could see through the chests to Keys, and eventually the Heart Container. Link, however, gets a greater advantage than spectacles when he acquires the Lens of Truth, which allows him to see through chests, albeit while consuming his Magic Meter.
7. How does a Gossip Stone they describe Kaepora Gaebora?

Answer: Lighthearted

While the owl offers Link advice, he turns his head upside down. The introverted head also resembles a face, as if his face is not upside down. Impa, a Sheikah who teaches Link songs along his journey, is more serious and tells Link a poem every time he learns a new song. Sometimes, the owl flies around in circles above when Link first plays the melody on his Ocarina.
8. The Gerudos sometimes leave Gerudo Valley to look for boyfriends, according to a Gossip Stone. Where does it say they search?

Answer: Hyrule Market Town

Though the only thief we see there is a man resembling Sakon who carries a bag over his shoulder, it is understandable why the Gerudo would choose Hyrule Market Town. It is the home of the only Gerudo man born in the last hundred years: Ganondorf.
9. What is the reason one Gossip Stone gives for Medigoron's store's inadequate size?

Answer: He did not consider his own size when building it

Medigoron has to lie vertically across his shop to fit inside of it. Biggoron, who lives on the top of the mountain, is as good at making his wares as finding a place to sell them. He can forge Link a sword that, unlike Medigoron's Giant's Knife, will not break.
10. Who does a Gossip Stone say is waiting for a "knight in shining armor" to sweep her off her feet?

Answer: Malon

When Link wins Talon's "Cucco Game" as a child, he asks Link what he wants as a prize. One of the viable options is marrying Malon, to which he responds he was just kidding. Ruto does plan to be wed to Link though, as a ceremonial rite to whoever she gives the Water Sapphire to.
11. How many of the Kokiri people does one of the Gossip Stones say have left the forest without being cursed?

Answer: One

Link was thought to have been one of the Kokiri people, but the sage Saria and The Great Deku Sprout both reveal to Link that he is Hylian. This accounts for the fact that Link is able to leave the forest without transforming.
12. How does one Gossip Stone describe Princess Zelda?

Answer: A tomboy

Despite living such a sheltered life, Zelda does turn out to be an assertive Princess; she tells Link about her dark dreams about Ganon and even stares at him through the window. She begs Link to find a way to stop him, confident that her dreams will be a reality.
13. Who does a Gossip Stone say set the original record for horse racing at Lon Lon Ranch?

Answer: Malon

Malon is fond of the horse Epona from the time Link was a kid and has an affinity for horse racing. When Link reclaims Lon Lon Ranch as an adult, he can even try to break her record for the obstacle course. If Link beats her record time, she will deliver a cow to his house!
14. What should you be wielding around butterflies, according to a Gossip Stone?

Answer: Deku Stick

If you get close enough to butterflies with your Deku Stick, they will turn into Fairies. However, these butterflies are few and far between. One of the most common places to find them is the Lost Woods.
15. The man running around Hyrule Field never stops, says one Gossip Stone.

Answer: True

Even though "they say" this, the man who resembles the Postman in "Majora's Mask" does stop at nighttime. Actually, if you follow him during the day and see him when he is stopped at night, he will buy your Bunny Hood, which he thinks will increase his speed. As an adult, he is in Gerudo Valley and Link can race him.
