Shun Akiyama was an elite college graduate who found a good job at Toto Bank. However, after being framed for embezzlement, he lost all his money trying to investigate who framed him. At the end of "Yakuza 1" when Akira Nishikiyama caused the explosion in the Millennium Tower, billions of yen rained down on the city. Akiyama was able to gain a lot of this money and ironically, it was the same money he had been accused of embezzling.

Answer: Takeshi Kido

Akiyama went after the Hatsushiba clan as they broke into his office knocking out Hana, his secretary, in order to retrieve the account book of Sky Finance under the pretense of that Akiyama's company was taking customers from Hatsushiba loan sharks. Kido, who was also at the office at the time was taken by Midorikawa which caused Akiyama to become suspicious of Kido due to his being a great fighter.

Answer: Goh Hamazaki

Saejima befriended Hamazaki after being moved to a secret prison off the coast of Okinawa. Saejima was sent there for his execution after a twenty-five year stint in prison, being accused of murdering eighteen Ueno-Seiwa clan members. Saejima assisted Hamazaki in escaping and in finding the error in his ways as he was the first person to ever truly trust Hamazaki.

Answer: Sasai Family

Saejima joined the Sasai Family as a teenager after being discovered by Hideki Sasai when he was fighting to save up money for his sister Yasuko's kidney operation. After Saejima's failed assassination of Yoshiharu Ueno, Sasai disbanded the family and was found half-dead by Goro Majima. Sasai lost everything and ended up living in the Purgatory as a homeless man.

Answer: It was related to his father's death

Tanimura's father was killed due to the fact he found out the truth about the assassination attempt on Yoshiharu Ueno. He found the truth about the Ueno-Seiwa and Shibata clans conspiring with each other to set up the Sasai clan but he also stumbled upon the police corruption behind it. His father was killed for this and it created Tanimura's desire to become a police officer.

Answer: Junji Sugiuchi

After uncovering the police corruption and the cover up of the true killer of the eighteen Ueno-Seiwa members (Katsuragi), Sugiuchi killed Tanimura's father. After Tanimura discovered Sugiuchi's false report on the incident and after confronting Sugiuchi, Sugiuchi admitted the truth and also revealed himself as a member of the Ueno-Seiwa clan.

He died in Tanimura's arms after being shot by an unknown gunman.

Kiryu fought Saejima when Saejima had recovered from his injuries from his prison escape and demanded Kiryu to assist him in getting back to Kamurocho to sort out his past. He fought both Akiyama and Tanimura at the same time when he returned to Kamurocho when Akiyama and Tanimura found Kiryu chasing them, assuming he was out to capture Yasuko Saejima who Kiryu was also trying to protect.

Answer: Kamurocho Hills

Kiryu had to fight his way up to the top of the Kamurocho Hills development site. This was due to Katsuragi not wanting to fight Kiryu and thought Kiryu would be too tired to fight if he had to fight his way through the entire Ueno-Seiwa clan. Unfortunately for Katsuragi, he was betrayed by Hiroaki Arai and was killed by Yasuko, who he had shot moments before.

Answer: Taiga Saejima

Saejima and Majima were Yakuza brothers before Saejima was sent to jail. For many years, Saejima thought that Majima had betrayed him as both of them were going assassinate Yoshiharu Ueno, but Kazuo Shibata had kidnapped Majima in order to make Saejima do it on his own.

This was to set up the Sasai family and allow them to take the fall in order for the Shibata family to rise up the Tojo clan ranks. Majima lost his eye while captive after one of Shibata's men cut it out with a knife.

Answer: Isao Katsuragi

Katsuragi, even though playing a major part in all the events in the game, he was killed in the previous chapter after Arai betrayed him and Yasuko later shot him. Akiyama's final boss was Hiroaki Arai, Saejima fought Kido, Kiryu fought Daigo and Tanimura fought Munakata.
