Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. How many people work at the Bazaar in Tarna?

Answer: Fifteen

Their businesses: Used items (two merchants), honey, oil, weapons, fruit, animal skins, fish, rope, beads, wooden crafts, meat, amulets, and cloth. That's 13. In addition, there is a money changer, and also a street drummer. This brings the total to fifteen people. Of course, there's also a thief, but he's not really doing much work anymore. Each of them, except the amulet salesman, has at least some purpose other than for dialogue.
2. In the best "Quest for Glory" tradition, there's a cameo appearance by a famous two-man comedian team, who used to have their own television show, appearing as the Not-So-New Items Salesmen at the entrance of the Bazaar. Complete the name of their original television show: "________ and Son".

Answer: Sanford

"An Forda" and his son keep arguing with one another and have some hilarious comments to make. They sell only one item, which is extremely useful - the Tinderbox. Thieves can also pick up an extra item here, but it really doesn't have as much value as might first appear.
3. On which "side" of the city does Kreesha live?

Answer: Western

If asked, some of Tarna's residents will mention that humans live on the west side, while Liontaurs live on the east side. This is because the Liontaurs do not care to mingle with humans, whom they view as somewhat inferior or at least too much trouble. Kreesha the Liontaur, as she herself will explain, feels more sympathy for humans.

She also studies magic, which is generally frowned upon in Liontaur society, while Humans seem to be more interested in that field. In any case, she's chosen to live in the western part of town.
4. Except for the king, how many Liontaurs sit in Tarna's Great Council?

Answer: 6

The council is made up of only female Liontaurs, who are considered more balanced and level-headed, and that's how they can keep the male Liontaur King in check. This is obviously very useful when the Liontaur on the throne is as quick-tempered as King Rajah Sah Tarna.
5. Rakeesh is a powerful Paladin - so why isn't he out there fighting demons instead of you?

Answer: He's injured

Rakeesh abdicated the throne so he could go fight a Demon who had beset Tarna, many years ago. He was injured in combat with that demon. The wound has not fully healed, and Rakeesh suspects that a part of the demon itself may still be lodged in his hind leg. Therefore, Rakeesh is no longer capable of fulfilling the task you two set out to accomplish, although he will occasionally serve as a wise adviser and mentor.

Still, it does sometimes feel like there's absolutely no good reason, because he seems to spend more time cuddled up with his mate Kreesha than doing anything else. And he does make one cross-country walk with you all the way to the Simbani village... Are you SURE that wound hasn't healed yet, "ol' buddy"?
6. How many different kinds of monsters can you fight in the wilderness ("random encounters")?

Answer: Seven

In rough order of threat, they are:
1) Giant Ant
2) Croc Man
3) Ape Man
4) Flying Cobra
5) Dinosaur
6) Leopard Man
7) Demon Worm
Only the Croc, Ape and Leopard men carry any sort of reward (in the form of money), although Fighters and Paladins will want to defeat and loot a Dinosaur at least once, as proof of their fighting prowess.
7. Arne Saknoosen is a member of which animal species?

Answer: Aardvark

On one of the first nights you happen to sleep next to a bonfire, Arne the Aardvark (or "earth pig") will show up and sit down by the fire, drinking his booze. He knows a lot about the Savannah and the Jungle, but his world view is a bit lopsided and makes the info he gives you very difficult to understand at first.

It seems that in the "Quest for Glory" world, Aardvarks are pretty intelligent, and actually build termite mines to extract termites from the earth. If you pay close attention, Arne could at least give you some good clues on things you would want to seek out in the wilderness...
8. How many stones are used in a game of Awari?

Answer: 36

Awari resembles the game "Oware" from West-Africa, and also resembles the game "Mancala" from East-Africa (known, erroneously, as "Oware" in Europe and the U.S.). The two are similar but not identical, and Awari is like a combination of these two games.

Awari may look like a simple or primitive game at first, but it's quite a brainteaser. The objective is to move as many stones as possible into your "store", mainly by eating up the opponent's stones or even by eating up your own stones! The rules may be simple, but there's a lot of forethought and strategy involved. The best part about Awari is that playing it will increase your intelligence score - excellent for budding Wizards! And it's a nice compensation for not being able to practice magic in the Simbani Village.

9. How many doors (not doorways, actual doors) are visible in the city of Tarna?

Answer: Zero

Tarna is a very safe city. It's so safe, that there are no doors to be seen anywhere. This gives a great "open-air" atmosphere to the city - you can almost feel the breeze. The city is secure thanks to the harsh laws of the Liontaurs and their vigilant guards. Any illegal action is met with swift (and very effective, yet non-violent) justice.

In fact, on of the gate guards will tell you that in all his long memory, the main gate to the city (the only door in the city, though you never actually see it) was only closed twice.
10. What is the relationship between Johari and the Leopardman Chieftain?

Answer: Father and Daughter

Johari is the Leopardman Chieftain's daughter. Still, once you convince her that you've only come to help stop the war between her tribe and the Simbani, and return the Drum of Magic to the Leopardmen, she will even assist you in entering the village against her father's wishes.
11. What is the current season?

Answer: The Dry Season

During the Dry Season, the Simbani move their village to the outskirts of the Jungle, so their cattle will have a place to graze. No matter how much time you spend playing, the seasons will not change. Too bad.
12. There is more than one Simbani Village.

Answer: True

Not any that you'll meet in the game, but the Laibon does say that he will call upon the help of the other Simbani tribes in the coming war against the Leopardmen. It wouldn't be much of a war if only a couple of dozen people were going at each others' throats, you know?
13. The monkeys from the monkey village were once slaves at the Lost City.

Answer: True

Manu will tell you about this, and it certainly explains his extensive knowledge about the goings-on in the Lost City ruins. Fortunately, he also knows a secret way into the towers where the demon gate is located. But he will do his best to try and persuade you not to go inside.
14. How many people survived the peace mission from Tarna to the Leopardmen?

Answer: 2

While the people of Tarna believe only one survivor remains from the peace mission, there are actually two: Reeshaka, daughter of Rakeesh, has also survived, but was taken captive by the demons. They can easily possess her and make her attack you, so unless you're looking for a difficult fight, you'll want to carry around that extra Dispel Potion.
15. The Demon you meet at the very end of the game isn't only responsible for this incident with opening the Chaos Gate. This demon's done some mischief before. What did the Demon do, which impacted the history of "Quest for Glory"?

Answer: This Demon already invaded Tarna in the past

The Demon already invaded Tarna many years ago. Rakeesh abdicated his throne so he could hunt the Demon down. In the battle that ensued, Rakeesh banished the Demon, but not before the Demon injured him, rendering him incapable of further heroic deeds, which is why you've got to "aid" Rakeesh (read: "Do his job for him") in "Quest for Glory" parts 2 and 3.
