Rumors in the Dark Trivia Quiz

This is my quiz on "Perfect Dark" for the Nintendo 64. Most of these questions refer to secrets and hints to beat the game. The others are interesting facts for those "Darkheads", as they like to be called.

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. To kill the Skedar leader, what do you do?

Answer: Shoot his shield down, then shoot the statue arms

The Skedar leader's shield can not be pierced by bullets, only impaled by the statue. It goes right through his head! You've beaten the game if you've beaten him! Three Cheers for you!
2. Who (more than likely) left behind the secret Phoenix gun in Episode 4:2 "Area 51 Rescue"?

Answer: Elvis

If you've managed to unlock the "Maian SOS" bonus level (beat all levels on Special Agent or better), Elvis gets knocked unconscious in the same room with the Phoenix. Apparently, some goof-off forgot to pick it up later, as they are known to do in Area 51.
3. Which of these is not a device to train with at the Institute?

Answer: BombSpy

The CamSpy, not the BombSpy, is available for training. The BombSpy, unlike the CamSpy, blows up when you press the shutter. You can get one by blowing up a trash can in the Chicago streets (3:1).
4. In all, how many levels are there (counting bonus levels)?

Answer: Twenty-one

There are three Datadyne missions, one at the villa, two in Chicago, three at Area 51, three dealing with the president, two with the Cetans, one at the Institute, one aboard an alien ship, and one at their homeworld. Also, "Mr. Blonde's Revenge" when you beat the game on Agent, "Maian SOS" for Special Agent, "War!" for Perfect Agent, and you unlock "The Duel" by getting bronzes on each weapon training.
5. When did Carrington first contact the Maians?

Answer: 1985

If you read the background (unlocked by beating "Mr. Blonde's Revenge"), it says that Carrington contacted the Maians in 1985. He proposed a plan to benefit humans and Maians overall. Since then, they have been working together to gain friendly contact between Humans and Maians. For those who wonder about this, 2023 is the "current" setting of the game, and the other two years were just off the top of my head.
6. All in all, did the game developers (Rare) work out all the bugs in "Perfect Dark"?

Answer: No, there is a piece of cheese hidden in each level

There is indeed a piece of cheese in every level. Apparently, these were supposed to be used for something, but in the end, Rare decided to leave them in the game due to programming difficulties. They really don't affect the gameplay or anything, but it is a nice little bonus for hardcore players to look for.
Headstart - in the first mission, look for it in the drains between the top floor and Cassandra De Vries' office.
7. Which of these "GoldenEye" guns doesn't make a glorious comeback in "Perfect Dark"?

Answer: Golden Gun

The RC-P45, PP9i KLO1313, ZZT (9mm), DMC, CC13, AR53 Rifle, and the KF7 Special all make a return when you get all golds on the firing range. The names of the guns have been changed as they are duplicates of their 007 counterparts. If you've played "Goldeneye", you'll more than likely recognize these guns. You can turn on the cheats for these guns under "Classic Weapons for Solo".
8. What does the Psychosis Gun do?

Answer: Alters target's grip of reality

Enemies become friends, [...] Bad becomes good (watch excerpt). In other words, your "victim" changes allegiance to your side (unless, of course, if they are already on your side... then it has no effect). This gun is normally available in the "Maian SOS" level and also is unlockable by beating the Chicago streets on Perfect Agent in under two minutes flat.

The one thing that sucks about this gun is that the "Infinite Ammo" cheat doesn't work on it (four shots, that's it).
9. What is one way to get a DY357-LX (Trent's Magnum) for the Firing Range without cheating or having to beat the game?

Answer: Disarm Trent in 5:3

You can mug Trent for it, or unlock it after beating twenty challenges in Multiplayer. It's a lot like the Golden Gun or the Golden PP7, killing enemies with one shot. In "Maian SOS", you use it to blow up the saucer.
10. How old is Elvis?

Answer: 320 years old

This is discovered in the Carrington Institute's Hacker Central. After working with Elvis in the 1-Player mode, his file will automatically be added to the character biographies. Also, if you beat the Skedar Warship on Perfect Agent in under 8:17, you can play as Elvis.
