Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Contrary to popular belief, the game of pinball is not simply sending the ball around the table randomly to accumulate points. The game consists of many different missions which when completed allow the player to increase his/her rank. What is the highest rank in the game?

Answer: Fleet Admiral

A player starts at the level of Cadet and moves up a rank whenever three missions are completed at that level. After Cadet are the ranks Ensign, Lieutenant, Captain, Lieutenant Commander, Commander, Commodore, Admiral, and Fleet Admiral.
2. Under the standard computer settings, what computer keys does a player press to use the left and right flippers that hit the ball in "Space Cadet 3D Pinball"?

Answer: Z and /

The "Z" key raises the left flipper and the "/" key raises the right flipper. The space bar key launches the ball at the start of the game. The "X" and the "." key tilt the board.
3. What is the greatest "Skill Shot" bonus that a player can receive as he/she launches the pinball at the beginning of the game?

Answer: 75,000

The skill shot bonus is received by launching the pinball only partway up the chute on the right. If one or five deployment lights are lit, the bonus is 15,000 points. If two or four deployment lights are lit, the bonus is 30,000 points. If three lights are lit, the maximum skill shot bonus of 75,000 points is received.
4. After a mission target is hit, where must the player hit the pinball to accept the mission?

Answer: Launch Ramp

The launch ramp is the chute located on the left side of the board. Other than accepting missions, the launch ramp will also end up refueling your ship. To obtain information about each of the board's components, you can consult the help menu.
5. Of the following, which will cause a player to have to abort his/her currently accepted mission?

Answer: Running out of fuel

Your current mission has no time limit and the only way it can be aborted is if you run out of fuel or your ball drains down the board. You can refuel the ship by hitting the pinball down the launch ramp or lighting up the bars between the launch ramp and the mission targets.
6. Is there a limit to the number of extra balls that a player can receive in a game of "Space Cadet 3D Pinball".

Answer: No

A player may obtain as many extra balls and replays as possible. The easiest way to receive an extra ball is to hit the pinball up the hyperspace kickout four times and then let the pinball fall in one of the kickers. A replay is received when a player hits a ball into the wormhole that is lit.
7. When a player hits the pinball into the hyperspace kickout three times in a given time period, he/she activates the center post. What does the center post do?

Answer: It stops the pinball from draining down the middle of the board

The center post is a very valuable asset and makes it very hard to lose the pinball down the center. Since the center post disappears after sixty seconds, you should try to complete your current mission while it is out.
8. The field multiplier targets, located just above and to the left of the attack bumpers, can provide huge point bonuses if you drop all three of them at the same time. In what increments can the field multiplier targets multiply your scores by?

Answer: 2, 3, 5, 10

Although they provide huge bonuses, it can be difficult to drop (hit) all three field multiplier targets multiple times within sixty seconds. For example, if you wanted to get a 10 multiplier, you'd have to achieve each incremental multiplier within sixty seconds of obtaining the previous one.
9. The computer "Space Cadet 3D Pinball" is rather forgiving. If you lose your pinball within a short amount of time, you will get a "redeploy" that allows you to shoot the pinball again. Within how many seconds must you lose the pinball to receive a redeploy?

Answer: Fifteen

Fifteen seconds goes by very quickly in pinball, so redeploys are very infrequent. The redeploy functions just like a replay in that the table does not reset.
10. There is a very helpful feature on the table that guides you in completing missions. What is this feature, that is originally lit near the mission targets?

Answer: Colored arrows

The colored arrows become lit and point at the current spot where the pinball needs to go to complete or accept a mission. Additionally, a box to the right of the screen will display in words what mission you have accepted along with various other information.
