Pearl and Marina act very much like Callie and Marie from the previous game. They will inform the player of all the new content, events and updates in the game. The duo is collectively referred to as Off the Hook, the name of their band.

Salmon Run is a co-op mode for up to four friends to play. The ultimate goal of Salmon Run is for each player to collect salmon eggs and place them in a basket. In each round, the team must collect a certain amount of eggs. If the team succeeds, they earn a high amount of Grizzco points but if the team fails, they receive less. If a team is frequently successful, the degree of difficulty will be increased and more points can be earned.

In Clam Blitz, players must search the stadium for clams and throw them into the opposing teams basket. If a player is splatted, his or her clams will disperse and can be collected by someone else. One a team has broken the other's barrier, they can begin throwing clams into the other team's basket.

The barrier will be down for ten seconds and the timer is extended three seconds for each clam scored. The team with the most points at the end of the round wins.

Answer: The tower stops moving

In Tower Control, a team must ride a tower throughout the stadium. Which ever team reaches its goal first or rides the tower closer to its goal wins. "Splatoon 2" added checkpoints to Tower Control. At each checkpoint, the tower will stop moving for a predetermined amount of time. Being stopped at a checkpoint makes it somewhat easier for the opposing team to pick off the players on the tower.

The more players on the tower at a checkpoint, the quicker the clock ticks down at the checkpoint.

Answer: The Rainmaker decreases your defences.

In a Rainmaker Battle, each team fights to carry the Rainmaker closest to its goal. The first team to get the Rainmaker to its goal or the team that carries it closest to the goal wins.

The Rainmaker is a powerful weapon that shoots out balls of ink. However, it has its drawbacks. The Rainmaker is heavy and will slow down the person carrying it. In addition, the player carrying the Rainmaker will be marked on the map for everyone to see. Both of these things make the player a huge target and make it easier for the other team to locate and splat them.

The Rainmaker is so powerful that when it is shot, the shooter is knocked back a bit. This can cause the player to fall off obstacles or even the whole course and will reset the Rainmaker's position. A popular strategy trailing teams use is to simply recapture the Rainmaker and purposely fall off the course because that will reset the Rainmaker to the center of the stage, preventing the team from having to travel with it through enemy territory.

In Splat Zones, each team fights for control over a marked area of the course (some courses have two splat zones). A team needs to cover 75% of the splat zone in its color ink to gain control of it. When a team does this, the entire splat zone is automatically filled in. If the opposing team manages to cover 50% of the other team's splat zone in ink, the team in control of it loses control.

The team that can control the splat zone(s) for the longest period of time wins.

Answer: Turf War

Turf War is considered to be the standard mode of play. During special events called Splatfests, Turf War is the only mode available. In Turf War, each team scrambles to cover the most amount of turf with its ink color. The team with the largest area covered wins. Regular, unranked battles are also only available in Turf War mode.

A player needs to reach level ten before he or she can play ranked battles.

Answer: Sheldon

Sheldon is a horseshoe crab who looks somewhat like a human. He will sell the players weapons of all kinds from his store in Inkopolis. He also develops and designs the weapons himself. One of his trademarks is that he gives long winded descriptions about his products when a new one becomes available.

Answer: DJ Octavio

DJ Octavio is a reddish giant octopus who is the game's main antagonist in Hero Mode (the single player mode). In "Splatoon 2", he kidnaps the Great Zapfish to gain power. Callie (one of the Squid Sisters from the first game) has fallen under his spell and must be rescued by Marie, Cap'n Cuttlefish and the player.

DJ Octavio is the mode's final and most difficult boss. After his defeat, he will be trapped in a snow globe.

Answer: Windfall Island

There are twenty-three regular stages where all modes can be played. Fourteen stages are new while nine are returning from the first game. In addition, there is a twenty-fourth stage called Shifty Station which is only available during Splatfests and changes appearance each time. Each of the stages has its own unique layout, size and obstacles.

Windfall Island is a location in "The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker", not in "Splatoon 2".
