Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What is guarding the Map in the first labyrinth?

Answer: Keese and Traps

This has got to be the easiest map to get in any "Zelda" game and, it seems like even for the first labyrinth, it would be harder. I guess the difficulty might come in with the area of the room if you don't have the ladder. The room has a water row. The room becomes much less maneuverable with the traps and the flitting Keese.

Then again, the map is in plain view so getting it becomes a hit and run operation.
2. Follow my directions from the starting point of the game: North, West, West, North, West, North, North. Where are you?

Answer: In the grid with the second labyrinth

One of the changes in the overworld is the grid that held the Blue Ring Shop in the First Quest of "The Legend of Zelda". It's now the area where the second labyrinth is located. It is also usually my first stop. There's a very utile item there.
3. Which of the following is not an amount of Wallmasters found in any of the labyrinths?

Answer: Six

When I first played "The Legend of Zelda", the Wallmasters scared the daylights out of me. Oh man! I hated being grabbed and taken to the start of the labyrinth. I felt like a bad school child being sent to see the principal. I later learned that the Boomerang was a formidable weapon, when used in combo with a few others, to dispense with them all at the same time.
4. What is the mini-boss of the third labyrinth?

Answer: There isn't one

This is the smallest of the labyrinths in "The Legend of Zelda's" second quest. It's so small, it doesn't need a mini-boss; at least it doesn't have one. I guess you could probably say that the Orange Goriya are sort of a semi-mini-boss. Shaped like an "'L", and it's one of only two labyrinths where the labyrinth item is not downstairs.
5. Hidden in which of the labyrinths is the message, "South Of Arrow Mark Hides A Secret"?

Answer: Labyrinth Six

The game's Overworld is loaded with Armos Statues and rock formations. These make great markers to help you find your way. This message in the sixth labyrinth is hinting at the Magical Sword which you can actually get before you read the message, if you're like me and you love exploring. Just be sure to have the correct amount of Heart Containers when you decide to go.
6. What is the boss and mini-boss composition of Labyrinth Seven?

Answer: Four-headed Gleeok, 2 Manhandlas, and Ghoma

This is one of the most intricate labyrinths of the game. It's loaded with those always dangerous Blue Iron Knuckles as well as lots of twists and turns to navigate the labyrinth. Oh yeah! Bring Rupees, you never know when you might have to make a "Life" altering decision.
7. When you touch any tombstone in the Hyrule Graveyard a Ghini will pop out. Picture the Graveyard. Now tell me, in the upper right sector, and remember we're playing the Second Quest. What is the maximum number of Ghinis that you can kill?

Answer: Ten

In the First Quest of "The Legend of Zelda", there was an item hidden in that sector. In the Second Quest, even though there isn't an item hidden in that sector, there are also no Ghini available if you touch the tombstone that hid the item in the First Quest. Even more, just the opposite is true in the upper left sector.

Not only is there an item but there is a Ghini if you touch the tombstone with the item underneath. The catch is, touch the tombstone after you push it open.
8. Where in all of Hyrule would you see the following message: "Secret Is in The Tree At the Dead-End"?

Answer: Under an Armos west of Warp Point Three

I used to think this message was about the Blue Ring Shop. However, since that isn't a tree, I must conclude the message points to the very obvious tree with the Money Game inside.
9. If you wanted to purchase a Red Potion, which area should you avoid?

Answer: One screen east of Warp Location One

The Letter to the Old Woman will allow you to purchase the Water of Life or Medicine or Potion from any of several shops around Hyrule. You can however get the potion free another way. You can sacrifice a Heart Container for the Red Potion in one of four locations. Umm...no, Heart Container please!
10. The Shop with the Blue Ring has three items. If I bought all of them, how many Rupees would I spend?

Answer: 390

This may seem like a tough question but it's really easy. This has got to be the most memorable shop in Hyrule. It contains the Blue Ring, a Bait Meat, and a Key. It memorable because it has the most expensive item and the cheapest Bait and Key. The Rupees you spend are a pittance as the game is loaded with Rupees.
11. There's more than one way to get bombs. Labyrinth number eight is loaded with Dodongos. Just how many Dodongos are in four rooms?

Answer: Twelve

If you find yourself in a room with this enemy, there will be either one or three of them. At this stage of the game the staff didn't make it easy on us. The upswing, we can get lots of bombs from the twelve Dodongos; or can we? Dodongos can be really tricky.
12. Which of the following items can't you get with the use of the Recorder (Whistle)?

Answer: Arrows

The Recorder got an upgrade in uses for "The Legend of Zelda" the Second Quest. It will now open many hidden caves and shops around the land of Hyrule. While you can open a shop that sells Potion, a cave with a Money Game, or even find a Heart Container with the Recorder, you can't use it to open a shop that sells Arrows.
13. In the room prior to Ganon's Lair in the Death Mountain Labyrinth, if you lean against the center north wall, where will you find yourself?

Answer: In a room with Blue Bubbles

This last Labyrinth had me screaming for help when I first played the game. It's filled with doors and exits and entrances of all kinds. There's always a way out of a room but be careful when testing the wall or using hidden stairs. You just might find yourself in a room with Ironknuckles or Red Bubbles.
14. In Death Mountain's Labyrinth, how do you get into the room where the Map is located?

Answer: Bomb a wall

The Map is guarded by a most dangerous creature, a Patra. This formidable enemy is an eye surrounded by many other circling eyes. The Patra is capable of causing its brood to take different patterns. If you have ever been to an amusement park and ridden the trabant, you know the patterns.

This ride can swing you up or down in and out as well as tilt you. The Patra's patterns are the same, so watch out. By the way, not all Patras have the same patern.
15. Which of these enemies can't become another enemy?

Answer: Pols Voice

An anomaly of this game is that some creatures can become others when attacked with inferior weapons. The Zols will become gels when struck with the Wooden Sword. The Vires will become Red Keese when you use regular Arrows, the Wooden Sword or the White Sword, If you're in a grid with Red and Blue Lynels and Peahats, kill a Red Lynel and exit then re-enter the grid and a Blue Lynel will now be a Red Lynel or a Peahat depending on the amount of enemies when you exit the grid. If you exit leaving one Red Lynel and one Peahat, the Lynel will become a Peahat.

This works with several enemy groupings in the game. I call this trick, "Presto Chango".
