Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. At the beginning, you start near a crevice by a volcano, where your adventure starts. It's mentioned throughout "Uru" and once in "Myst IV". What is it called?

Answer: The Cleft

In "Myst IV", Atrus says he must "stop at the cleft for some tools", and also mentions Rime. In Uru, Yeesha constantly refers to "the stream flowing through the Cleft" in her messages for you, both in the viewer and in person. After completing the game, you get the Cleft on your bookshelf.

How does the Cleft connect in the game? All of the DRC were "drawn" to this area, where they all found a Relto book and linked away. You yourself appear to get the last book, and use it to explore the ages beyond Myst.
2. The KI is entirely useless.

Answer: False

Very false, as the KI is needed to open doors in Gahreesen, and is used to snap and store pictures (handy if you need help remembering an inscription).

It also has a very significant use in "Uru: To D'ni", the expansion pack.
3. What does the DRC stand for?

Answer: D'ni Restoration Council

As you travel, you will see various books stamped with a DRC symbol. This means that the book is safe to use. This does NOT mean, however, that you shouldn't use an unmarked book!
4. One man took another person's Relto. When the second person did some thrill seeking, he fell off a cliff and died. What was his name?

Answer: Phil

You find this in the journal in a D'ni area you can get to by Teledahn. In "To D'ni", You use Phil's Relto to find a secret age which gets you into the D'ni city.

Phil's death started the downward spiral that ruined the DRC, by scaring off Watson, and the DRC fell apart.

Douglas was the man who actually took Phil's book, and he feels guilty afterwards. He is the man who is in charge of Teledahn. Nick was his "right hand man", and Watson was in control of the entire DRC project.
5. Which of these is NOT correct about Teledahn?

Answer: It 's a prison age

While Teledahn has a dungeon, a "Prison Age" is an age where there is no way out, and the link is partly severed, so only one person can be in it at a time. Most prison ages are burned after use. A harsher punishment, a "Death Age", is written so that anyone who links in unprotected are destroyed by the conditions (think of it as a link to, say, the sun).

The book was written for a Lord in the Guild of Caterers named Hinahsh for his 250th birthday. Ten years later, he died and it was given to the guild of caterers, who auctioned it off to Manesmo. Sam translates the local history books and finds that the mushrooms are a delicacy (although she might have been wrong), but Manesmo definetly made a living off selling the spores for bread. He made extra money via slave trade (that's what the dungeon is for, to hide slaves from the "Maintainers"). Also, there is a "whale" (although it looks more like a dinosaur) nicknamed "Shroomie" which eats the mushrooms and is dead scared of all noises (Douglas drew pictures of it, you can see the pictures on his desk in Teledahn itself). If you link out at the end then link in at the tapestry near the end door, then quickly run to the gun-dock, you may catch a glimpse of the "whale".
6. A reference is made to the creators of the "Myst" series.

Answer: True

Oddly, on March 7, 2002, in his journal, Douglas Sharper says he "enjoyed talking to Robyn and Rand again." Rand and Robyn Miller created "Myst", joined later by their brother, Ryan.
7. You find a dead body in which age?

Answer: Kadish Tolesa

The Lord who owned the book Kadish Tolesa hid all his prized valuables in the safe at the pit. You find his skeleton sprawled out on the floor when you go in.

The whole safe is suspended over the pit by enormous spikes that stick out from the walls. You use one of them like a balance beam to get you to the end of the age.
8. The second area of Gahreesen has an upper level which you can link to.

Answer: True

Oddly enough, there is an upper area accessable from Teledahn. You know this because, when you use the Bahro stone in Douglas Sharper's D'ni home, the Bahro stone writes itself into the Gahreesen book. Also, on the lower level, Simpson's report has a sticky note on the front saying "Don't mention the upper level" and "I don't want people all over Teledahn looking for that weird stone".
9. Two connected ages' names start with the the same word. What is the word?

Answer: Eder

They are called Eder Kemo and Eder Gira. You may see Kadish Tolesa in here, but it is not connected to any other age called "Kadish". Emar is not part of any age, and Ae' is part of Ae'gura.
10. Gahreesen's power comes from an oversized gear with it's teeth caught in gaps in the wall outside. The clincher is that the entire building is moving! According to Simpson, what is the building rotated by?

Answer: Underground water currents

In a progress report found in a meeting room in the main building, Simpson writes: "The entire building looks to have been powered by some underground water source which turns the entire building." On top of the building, you can even see some of the water far below.
