Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What is the 13th letter of the alphabet?

Answer: shiin

Shiin makes the 'sh/ch' noise. It looks the same as siin, but with three dots (or 'nuktahs') above it.
2. Which of the following letters CAN be connected with the letter after them?

Answer: kef

6 letters of the Arabic alphabet cannot connect with the letter after them. These 6 letters are alif, del, thel, raa, zaay, and wow. The other 22 letters can connect with the letters that follow them.
3. Which of the following letters is not adjacent to the others?

Answer: daad

'Daad' is between 'saad' and 'taa.'
4. Which of the following letters/grammar additions does not create an 'ah' type sound?

Answer: yeh

Yeh is a letter which makes an 'ee' sound. A fatah is grammar that, when added above a letter, creates an 'aa' sound after the letter it is placed above. Alif is the first letter in the Arabic alphabet. Tarmabutas also create an 'aa' sound and can only be placed at the end of a word.
5. When you put a fatah under a letter, it is now called a _________, which adds an 'eee' sound after the letter that it is under.

Answer: cusera

In the Arabic alphabet, there aren't many vowels. Instead, they create the same sounds using grammar.
6. What is the 28th letter of the alphabet?

Answer: yeh

Yeh is the last letter of the Arabic alphabet. Arba'a is not a letter, it is a number. Jiim is in the first half of the alphabet, and hampsa is both a piece of grammar and a number.
7. Which of the following letters looks similar to a smiley face?

Answer: teh

Teh is the third letter of the alphabet, theh is the fourth. Taa and thaa are the 16th and 17th, respectively.
8. The Arabic Medial form of the letter raa is the same as the Final form of the letter raa.

Answer: True

The two forms are the same because raa is one of the six letters that cannot connect to letters after it.
9. Can you begin a word with a tarmabuta?

Answer: No

If you have been reading all of the 'Interesting Information,' you will already know that tarmabutas have to be at the end of a word. They cannot be in the middle or at the beginning.
10. There are two letters in the Arabic alphabet that make a 'p' sound.

Answer: False

There aren't any letters that can make the 'p' sound. Typically, speakers replace it with a 'b.'
