"Mahalo" on trash can is thanking you for throwing away your rubbish. Many tourists assume it means trash.

Answer: A resident of Hawaii

Kama'aina (or kamaaina) means locals, which can include anybody who is a resident and not necessarily having grown up there.
3. What group of people are called "haoles" in Hawaii?

Answer: Caucasians

Technically "haole" means non-Hawaiian, but in practice it refers mainly to white people.
4. If somebody in Hawaii offers to give you some "pakololo", what are they offering?

Answer: Marijuana

"Pakalolo" literally means 'crazy tobacco', but it generally refers to marijuana in the islands.

Answer: A small mythical person

The menehune are legendary people thought to be smaller than average. The come out at night and build things made out of stone like roads, fish ponds, or temples.

"Wahine" is the Hawaiian word for women, and is often used on the doors to toilet facilities. The Maori language of New Zealand, which is also Polynesian and closely related to Hawaiian, use the same word. The word for men is "kane".

"Mauka" means mountains and if you are going "mauka", you are going inland or toward the sea. The opposite would be "makai", or toward the ocean.
