Bizarre, it was not an easy watch, but I couldn't turn away.

Watched a Netflix original recently, 'Always Be My Maybe'. It's about a boy and a girl growing up together in San Francisco. She moves to LA, becomes a top chef, owns her own trendy restaurant. He stays in San Francisco, works for his dad's A/C installation/maintenance company, still lives at home. Sweet movie, happy ending.

I finally watched "Haunt," a movie about a group of friends visiting a haunted attraction. There was a bit of hype for it, and I was a little let down. It was alright, but some of the decisions made by the protagonists were a bit hard to swallow (then again, where is there a horror movie where that doesn't happen?).

Reel Injun--engaging documentary about the portrayal of Native Americans on film. It made me want to watch Atanarjuat again.

The Deluge--great sword fighting. Though it was hard for me to follow all the characters, and the main one really took too much physical abuse to keep surviving, I liked the tone: it made me feel like I was in that time period.

Like the Clouds, Like the Wind--I finally got to watch this movie after several years, and I enjoyed it. I liked the main character and how she valued learning.

Knives Out--interesting genre shifts.

Also this year, I saw Equus, The Duellists, This is Not a Film, My Own Private Idaho, The Assassin, Quiet Family, and Murder on the Orient Express (1974).

I'm watching "Spectre," right now, part of the James Bond franchise.
I enjoy it, but not like the Sean Connery, Bond movies.
Any thoughts?

Ringing Bell, aka Chirin's Bell. What a sad movie--Bambi's got nothing on this film. A lamb's mother is killed by a wolf, and he makes it his life's mission to become a killer to kill the wolf. Definitely not sugar-coasted, not idealistic. It's only 45 minutes long and available on Youtube, and is worth a watch.

"A Dog's Purpose"
A very heartwarming film, with Dennis Quaid, I recommend it.

'Gemini Man' - another movie that goes into the 'all actors need paychecks' category. Still, it's not Will Smith's worst movie. Nothing's ever going to surpass 'After Earth' in that regard.

It's a Bond-a-thon, all the James Bond movies, in order.

Citizen Kane. Was on a must watch list for ages. Shut down / lock down has enabled me to pick out at least 5 in the top 100

I've seen a lot in the past few months, so I'll just mention a few.

Parasite. I liked the commentary on capitalism and how neither the rich nor poor were portrayed totally favorably or vilified. On the other hand, the lapses in common sense that the characters displayed in the second half really soured the movie for me.

Stage Door (1937). I appreciated the relationships between the women, how they were never simple, and how their treatment and opinions of each other changed. I recommend it.

A Whisker Away. A girl likes a boy who doesn't seem to like her. She buys a cat mask that turns her into a cat; over time, she can't change back, but decides she'd rather be a human. Then her cat takes on her human body so she can live a longer life. Then the boy finds out...
I liked it. I cared about what happened to the characters and enjoyed the tone.
