Used to play rummy , cribbage , 99 ( a good strategy game where you do have to plan and think out your game ) .
Don't really get opportunity these days .

Yahoo used to have lobbies for Spades. There was one version called suicide where you or your partner has to bid nil. I miss it so much.

I just Googled: Play "internet spades against real people in real time," and there were a number of sites that offered exactly what I Googled.

I remember those Yahoo card rooms. Suicide spades was a favorite! Also double deck pinochle and euchre.

Seeker, that's so cool! That was probably my first online interaction with other people, and I thought it was amazing.
I remember trying so hard to get that red level!

Terraorca: thank you! I'll definitely have to look into that. I have an app on my phone but I feel like I don't have nearly the same control as I would with a mouse.

I'd also done some googling hoping to find another site like the Yahoo card rooms. Unfortunately all the sites that turned up for me looked like massive scam pay-for sites.

Skyflyer, I don't remember a red level, it's been so long. I remember the bots that filled in the two empty seats and I remember chatting and playing and having loads of fun. I can't recall if Yahoo provided audio or if we used Skype or the likes to talk while playing. Good times.

Seeker: I think I've forgotten most of the color-levels.
Everyone started off dark green at 1500, I believe.
Red was the best of the best. (1750+?)
Orange was the next I think.
I recall a violet and a light blue, but I can't remember too well.
Dark green usually meant new people.
Light green was for anything under .500 for your winning percentage. Usually people with bad luck (whose internet forced them to leave a game early), bad partners (who couldn't cover or bet badly), or not-so-good skill. Mostly a combination of those!

I remember Yahoo had the table in the middle of the screen, and below that was the chat screen. I can still recall people getting disgusted with their partners and using that chat to let them know how they felt!

Ah yes, the bots. Those faceless little things that couldn't carry a partner! They'd protect you one round and then lead with a four of clubs the next round. Good times.
Remember the little avatar faces? I think mine was a ponytail-wearing girl with a red cap.

Thanks for reminding me about suicide spades. That was an enjoyable one.

I used to play spades on msn games before they abandoned everything good that they had. It was similar to what you describe though, with ratings starting at 1500. You'd often get a partner who would blame you for everything and start cursing you etc. That was not so good but eventually I built up a little cohort of partners I could trust and you could agree to go on at a certain time and partner up, or just go in and search for them to see if they were playing.

It was great though.

I have a spades app that is free to download, it has in game ads but no charge. It allows play vs real opponents do is nearly as good as old msn spades. Still get loads of annoying players though. Loads that quit the game right after something goes wrong. I made a mistake covering one players nil bid that cost us the bid. But I always think it's easily possible to turn a listing situation round. The player was irritated about it and decided to keep bidding 13 each hand.... where do these people spring from? It's just a game! What's more, you can still win after a bad hand!

I play Hearts and Solitaire on the computer. I like the different variations of Solitaire.
