I think they did some illustrated newspapers, but they are known for other printed products, one in particular. Reply #22423. Jul 26 18, 9:08 AM |

That is not a bad guess, but none of them is Irish and the guys you are looking for didn't deal in dictionaries. Reply #22428. Jul 27 18, 11:02 AM |

My thoughts exactly Vee. It takes the fun out of the thread when obscure subjects are put forward, that is what killed the other similar threads. When this happens I bow out too and wait until something less difficult comes up. If subjects are too difficult members don't participate. Reply #22430. Jul 27 18, 8:50 PM |

For me, difficult is what makes it interesting and I don't have time for questions that are boringly easy. The answer to this was Rand McNally, famous makers of road maps. Over and out! Reply #22431. Jul 28 18, 3:57 PM |

Sorry Mommakat - Rand McNally was two people - William Rand and Andrew McNally. Too obscure for me. Reply #22433. Jul 30 18, 1:39 AM |

Speaking up for "difficult" subjects- I had not come across H.R.F. Keating until malama chose him as a subject. Thanks to this thread I have now read "A Perfect Murder", which was excellent, and I have a long list of books by Keating to look forward to. Result! Reply #22435. Aug 14 18, 10:09 AM |
