Subject: What are You Listening to Right Now?

My team has a post where, every once and a while, we pop in and say what song is currently playing on our ipod/mp3/radio/etc. Whatever is on right then, is what you post. :-)

Shostakovich wrote his first Cello Concerto for Mstislav Rostropovich, but I've just listened to Mischa Maisky playing it, and it's out of this world.

I loved it lesley! Although I had to listen to the movements broken up. Maisky is one of the best at his craft to be sure.

You have good taste, sir!

I saw Maisky in Cadogan Hall a few years ago, and fell in love with him on the spot. No other man will do now. Could be his hair...

Maisky? Is she better than Shakira? Just kidding. I'm in a slightly different genre here. Just heard "Ordinary Average Guy" by Joe Walsh..."And every Saturday we work in the yard. Pick up the dog doo, hope that it's hard". Now its playing "Walk Away" by Joe and his James Gang buddies. I just love his playing style and his goofball attitude.

Her hair is a lot more interesting than Shakira's. Her hips I don't know about.
(Joe Walsh is good. Sarstedt too. That's going back a bit!)

I heard Jethro Tull's "Thick As A Brick" last night. I looked up the lyrics this morning and "WOW".

One of my favorite songs ever. By Steve Earle.

Hey pretty baby, are you ready for me?
It's your good rockin' daddy down from Tennessee
I'm just outta Austin bound for San Antone
With the radio blastin' and the bird dog on

There's a speedtrap ahead in Selma town
But no local yokel gonna shut me down
'Cause me and the boys we got this rig unwound
And we've come a thousand miles from a guitar town

Nothin' ever happens in my hometown
And I ain't the kind to just hang around
But I heard someone call my name one day
And I followed that voice down the lost highway

Everybody told me you can't get far
On 37 dollars and a Jap guitar
Now I'm smokin' into Texas with the hammer down
And a rockin' little combo from the guitar town

Hey pretty baby don't you know it ain't my fault
I love to hear the steel-belts hummin' on the asphalt
Wake up in the middle of the night in a truck stop
Stumble in the restaurant wonderin' why I don't stop

Well I gotta keep rockin' while I still can
Got a two pack habit and a motel tan
When my boots hit the boards I'm a brand new man
With my back to the riser I make my stand

Hey pretty baby won't ya hold me tight
I'm loadin' up and rollin' outta here tonight
One of these days I'm gonna settle down
And take you back with me to the Guitar Town.

I really wish I had written that song. I didn't take a genius to do it but when has rock n roll ever been about Chi Kowsky or Mozark?

Right back at ya and yeah, you and me both know that if I didn't leave the politics out of the music, Ted Nugent would be all I could listen to!

Yeah, that is one great song. I love the flute!

Now I'm listening to "Blue Skies" by Noah & The Whale. I'd provide a YouTube link, but I haven't figured out how to do that on my iPod yet!
