Subject: The Official Share a Story Thread

Posted by: Terry
Date: Aug 24 12

If you are directed here by a FunTrivia challenge, please reply ONLY in this thread for the challenge. Only posts made here will count towards your challenge!

[ And no, you will be DIRECTED to come here. Posting here without having an already issued challenge will not result in anything! Still, you can post a story if you feel like it anyway ;) ]

If sent here, the title says it all. Your challenge is to share a story.

Tell us, briefly, about something funny or interesting that has happened to you recently. Or something sad. Or something scary. Or something exciting. Something funny or strange you saw?

If nothing funny or interesting or scary or exciting has happened, then write us a poem. Or a song. Or tell us a joke.

Or just tell us what you did today. Did all you accomplish was to brush your teeth? Did you fail to even do that? Do share...

Feeling grumpy today? Tell us what irritates you. What TV show can't you stand? What TV show are you watching that you like?

So go ahead, we're listening. The only rules are that you be polite and follow our very simple rules up above.

Tell us a story...

Fertilize the lawn, weed kill the lawn, watch it grow lush and green, mow the lawn, mow the lawn, mow the lawn. Such a vicious circle I create for myself.

I am the world's worst golfer. Today I lost 5 balls on the first hole, two of them were in the ball washer.
Before I took lessons I had a terrible slice. As I drove the ball took a right turn, right into the middle of the lake. After my lessons, my drive is now dead straight, right into the middle of the lake.
I am so bad I had to have the grip replaced on my water retriever.
I always use new golf balls, never had an old one.
A while back my wife and I were playing. A gent asked me what my handicap was. I pointed at my wife and said, "her".

Rumpo, we should have a round some day. I once managed to lose two golf balls while practicing my driving in the nets. The nets were there to protect a nearby trainline from errant shots. My first attempt, I hit the ground first, sent the ball almost directly upwards, over the net and over the trainline, narrowly missing an oncoming train. The second lost ball I simply have no idea how or where it went.

I bought a clever t-shirt the other day. It says, "I had a spinal fusion. Now I'm all screwed up".

We've become addicted to Britbox English and European mysteries. I found a book at the library called "Your Guide to Not Getting Murdered in a Quaint English Village." It's spot-on!

Mandy2, we have places here that are called "Thankful Villages" - there are about fifty of them (out of the tens of thousands of English villages (and I do mean English, the others haven't done a count)); they are places where no one from that village was killed as a result of World War I. There are even twelve or thirteen which are "Doubly Thankful" - they didn't lose anyone in WWII either.

And then we have the places which should be known as "Perilous Villages" - in other words, if you set foot in them you're going to get murdered behind the shrubbery in broad daylight and everything about you will be investigated by Miss Marple, Inspector Linley, or DCI Barnaby. You may be a "good guy" but trust me, nothing good ever comes out of those shrubs. Not even before tea-time.

Mmm, plums! Sounds so good, Sarah. That takes me back to Sunday dinners at my grandparents' house. We kids loved getting plums from their tree afterwards. :)
