One of the songwriters was from Wales and the other from Liverpool. They were in a band. Reply #101. Dec 13 12, 5:24 AM |

Thank you Jakeroo. "Without You": written by Ham and Evans from Badfinger, who were close to The Beatles and on Apple, sung by Nilsson and Carey. Your turn. Reply #105. Dec 14 12, 8:22 AM |

Sorry. I have Badfinger on vinyl - I really should have gotten it sooner and spared you the pain lol. Not sure I like "winning" this one as I can never think of a very good song, but here we go.. I suppose it could be considered an "apocalyptic" song. Latter "hippie" era. Reply #106. Dec 14 12, 6:16 PM |

Yeah, I guess that was a little early to be post-hippie. I'll go with my 2nd guess then. How about "In The Year 2525(Exordium and Terminus) by Zager & Evans. Reply #109. Dec 15 12, 7:58 AM |

Thanks, kind of feel the same way Jake, tough category to pick a good one. Okay, probably not the 1st(this always debatable) but one of the very early disco songs to hit big on the US charts. Reply #111. Dec 15 12, 5:01 PM |

A couple years earlier than than, this was not done by the Queen of Disco. A disco singer was not this artist's initial foray in the entertainment industry. Reply #113. Dec 15 12, 8:14 PM |

Hmm, the disco craze. A few years of my life that I skipped over completely lol. I'll guess "Kung Fu Fighting". Reply #114. Dec 15 12, 9:51 PM |

Not that one. Jake I'll bet you've heard this song many times & never realized it. This song was sampled by a Canadian band & had a huge hit with it. Also was used in a jingle for a Canadian supermarket chain, this ought to be a slam dunk for you now Jake. Yes I had to look that last bit up, anybody else is certainly welcome to chime in, I just found it interesting how much of a life this song has had after it's initial success. Reply #115. The only "disco" song I can think of being used for a grocery store commercial here would be "More More More" (the singular of which is the name of the awards program for frequent shoppers at SaveOn Foods). Reply #118. Dec 15 12, 10:55 PM |

You got it, Jake. More, More, More by Andrea True Connection a one hit wonder of the disco era. The song was sampled in the 1999 hit by Len-Steal My Sunshine. Andrea True started off her career in the early 70s as a star of 'adult' films. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FPMXw40si80 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E1fzJ_AYajA There's a link to both songs. What song are you? Reply #120. Dec 16 12, 12:03 AM |
