Here in Australia we're getting ready for one of the biggest events on our sporting calendar: the AFL Grand Final. Will Hawthorn take home their 11th Premiership or will Grand Final debutants Fremantle win their first?

My tip: Fremantle.

I hope Freo wins.

I think they have the defensive game to stop the Hawks' forwards (Franklin,Roughead,Gunston)

Well, the AFL season is finished for another year. Congratulations to the Hawks on winning their 11th Premiership. Better luck next year, Freo.

The 2014 AFL season is almost over. The finals are here again. The first round of matches is as follows:

Qualifying Finals: Hawks vs Cats/Swans vs Dockers. Whoever wins these games goes straight through to Preliminary Finals. However, the losers will still have a chance in the Semi-Finals.

Elimination Finals: Bombers vs Kangaroos/Tigers vs Power. Whoever wins these games goes through to the Semi-Finals. As for the losers, they're out until next year.

The season is effectively over now that the Tiges are gone, but I too think there will be two upsets - Kangas to beat Cats (as long as the 2nd half Kangas not 1st half Kangas from last week turn up) - and Port to continue the imperious form they displayed last week to beat Freo.

I hope you're right about Port and Kangas winning!

I still think Freo might be in front at the final siren even though there missing some injured players.

Two stunning games! The Kangaroos held off the fast-finishing Cats, final score: 98 to 92, while the Power, down by 31 points at half-time, came back to win by 22. Final score: 105 to 83.

Cats and Dockers eliminated. Preliminary finals are as follows: Kangaroos vs Swans, Power vs Hawks.

My tips: Kangaroos & Hawks in the Grand Final.

The first team into the 2014 AFL Grand Final is....Sydney! The Swans belted the Kangaroos by 71 points (final score: 136 to 65).

And their opponent will be the Hawks. Hawthorn JUST held on against a fast finishing Port Adelaide. Poor kicking in teh first quarter cost Port a Grand Final berth. They totally dominated yet could only manage 3.9 and a lead of just 12 points at the first change.

Should be a great game next Saturday. The best two teams spiced up by the 'Buddy' Factor.

I reckon Sydney will win relatively easily by five or six goals.

Tonight we have the AFL's most important award ceremony. Who will win the 2014 Brownlow Medal?

A difficult one this year. I think it might be a low count this time so I'll go for dual medalists-Gary Ablett Jnr. and Joel Selwood.

With a late, and perhaps successful, run from outsider, Port Adelaide's Robbie Gray.
