How about Clown Town by Petula Clark? Never Let Me Clown (David Bowie) I Will Never Let You Clown (Rita Ora) Clown Under (Men At Work) Burn It Clown (Linkin Park) Clown, Clown, Peepers The Clown (Status Quo) And, of course, my all time favourite, Clown With The Sickness by Disturbed. My favourite book is IT by Stephen King, and my favourite band is Disturbed, so Clown With The Sickness just about sums it up :-D But the easiest one for lyrics is Petula Clark : When you're alone, and life is making you lonely You can always go to - Clown Town When you need laughter, the red noses and slapstick Seems to help, I know - Clown Town Just listen to the music of the Big Top players playin' Hear the lions roaring and the pretty horses neighin' How can you lose? The lights are much brighter there You can forget all your troubles, forget all your cares So go Clown Town, things'll be great when you're Clown Town, no finer place for sure Clown Town, everything's waiting for you Clown Town....... Ha! That's pretty funny, Jo. I'll tell you a little secret. There is another very simple little "word exchange" like that that's even funnier. So funny that I am honestly afraid to write out the "results" to this lyric change because I'm sure I would get a spanking and have to stand in the corner for writing out some of this stuff. Anyway, it's very simple. Just change the word "love" to "glove." Doesn't really seem very amusing at all just on the surface, I know, but the addition of that one little letter on that one little word will open up a whole new world of musical enjoyment for you. It goes hand in hand with one other change. Change the word "you" to the name "Hugh" and just pretend they are talking about anybody named Hugh that would be most suitable for you. I prefer to think about Hugh Beaumont, the guy who played Beaver Cleaver's dad, or maybe Hugh Hefner, depending on the song. A couple of really great examples of big time fun from applying this magical word change are She Loves You by the Beatles and I Want You to Want Me by Cheap Trick. The latter is also a great example of how you need to remember to just play this by ear as you are experimenting with this and rolling in the floor from time to time as a result. For example, there is a line in that Trick tune that goes "I'd love you to love me." This is a fine example of when you should just leave certain things alone and not make the change, like the first "love" in that line. You obviously want to just let that one slide but be sure to change the second one, and now you have taken that song to a whole new level of musical enjoyment. Party time level of musical enjoyment! :-) Here's another thing to keep in mind - verb tense changes. Take that Beatles tune for example. "She loves you, and you know you should be glad" becomes "She gloves Hugh, and Hugh knows Hugh should be glad." "Know" becomes "knows" in this classic example. You will run into that a lot, and just remember to feel quite free to make whatever changes are necessary. Don't want to be grammatically incorrect when it comes to rock lyrics by all means. :-p Anyway, when you have gotten the hang of that so that those to words never get by you without you automatically making those changes that need to be made, then maybe you can remember to change "eyes" to "thighs" and you will be all set to rock and roll until you fall down. Not a big percentage of tunes have the word "eyes" in them, but the words "love" and "you"? We are talking tons and tons and tons of them that have one or both of those words in them, sometimes left and right all the way through from beginning to end. Pretty valuable information here, Jo. Rock and roll 101, man! :-) Reply #324. Jul 15 19, 5:30 AM |

I threw away an empty cracker box earlier today and suddenly the brand name jumped out at me - Town House, aka CLOWN HOUSE! Ahyuk! Clown House crackers! Do they sell those over there in the magnificent British Empire, Jo? Reply #325. Jul 18 19, 1:07 AM |

Yeah, they are nice for snacking or to go with soups and salads. Honestly, I don't know how plain saltine crackers have managed to stay on the market with so many different brands of crackers out there like Clown House. They have a buttery flavor like Club or Ritz or a lot of others that make plain saltines seem so dull and boring. I wish they would change their name to Clown House and have a commercial with some long-haired freak like me saying something like "Dude! Get your clown on with Clown House." That would be cool if that happened just any second now. :-) Reply #327. Jul 18 19, 8:04 AM |

Hee hee! You really catch on fast to stuff, Jen. "I Only Have Thighs For Hugh." Ahaw haw! I never even thought about that one. :-) That just goes to show Hugh how much stuff is out there just waiting to provide us with big time laughs. You have inspired me to put my thinking cap on and throw down a nice handful of bits and pieces of certain "party time favorites" for us to get our laugh on with. It may be a few days, I don't know, but stand by for some fun! :-) Reply #331. Jul 21 19, 2:41 AM |

Silly Glove Songs! Ah ha ha!!! That's brilliant! I actually have an interesting/spooky story about Behind Blue Eyes, but I won't tell it here. I absolutely adore that song. Limp Bizkit made a cover for the movie Gothika, which I also love (the movie AND the cover.) It's about appearance being deceptive, hiding your feelings and your true nature behind a pretty, pleasing front. "No one knows what it's like To feel these feelings Like I do And I blame YOU No one bites back as hard On their anger None of my pain and woe Can show through But my dreams they aren't this empty As my conscience seems to be I have hours, only lonely My love is vengeance That's never free" Reply #332. Okay, class, settle down now. We are about to have loads of fun by applying the "Love/glove, you/Hugh, eyes/thighs" principle to our musical listening pleasure. :-) You know, when it comes to experimenting with and having fun with this very important principle, keep in mind that the great music of the Beatles is like a gold mine, but they are just one of many gold mines out there waiting to be discovered and explored. The following are a bunch of fun examples. For those of you just joining us, keep in mind that the following song lyrics are not the original lyrics, there have been certain changes made, as well as changes that have sometimes been made to the song titles. As you are singing along to all your favorites, the following is just a tiny example of what applying the Love/glove, you/Hugh, eyes/thighs principle will have in store for you..... I Want to Hold Hugh's Hand And when I touch Hugh I feel happy inside It's such a feeling that my gloves I can't hide I can't hide I can't hide Yeah, Hugh's got that something I think Hugh'll understand Then I'll say that something I wanna hold Hugh's hand I wanna hold Hugh's hand I wanna hold Hugh's hand... Eight Days a Week Ooh, I need Hugh's gloves, babe I guess Hugh knows it's true Hope Hugh needs my gloves, babe Just like I need Hugh Hold me, glove me, hold me, glove me I ain't got nothin' but gloves, babe Eight days a week.... From Me to Hugh If there's anything that Hugh wants If there's anything I can do Just call on me and I'll send it along With gloves, from me to Hugh I've got everything that Hugh wants Like a heart that's oh so true Just call on me and I'll send it along With gloves, from me to Hugh I've got arms that long to hold Hugh And keep Hugh by my side I've got lips that long to kiss Hugh And keep Hugh satisfied (oooooh!)…. Glove Me Do Glove, glove me do Hugh knows I glove Hugh I'll always be true So please, glove me do Someone to glove Somebody new Someone to glove Someone like HUGH! :-) Can't Buy Me Gloves I'll buy Hugh diamond rings, my friend If it makes Hugh feel alright I'll give Hugh anything, my friend If it makes Hugh feel alright I don't care too much for money Money can't buy me gloves..... Okay, class, that will do it for this session. Don't want any of you ODing on this stuff. One side note: this last tune is a great example of how it is sometimes a lot of fun to change the word "money" to "dummy" or "dummies." See you at our next session! :-) Reply #334. Here's some more Beatles fun! :-) She Gloves Hugh Hugh thinks Hugh's lost Hugh's glove Well, I saw her yesterday It's Hugh she's thinking of And she told me what to say She said she gloves Hugh And Hugh knows that can't be bad She gloves Hugh And Hugh knows Hugh should be glad P S I Glove Hugh As I write this letter, send my gloves to Hugh Remember that I'll always be in gloves with Hugh Treasure these few words 'til we're together Keep all my gloves forever PS I glove Hugh, Hugh, Hugh, Hugh I'll be coming home again to Hugh, glove And 'til the day I do, glove PS I glove Hugh, Hugh, Hugh, Hugh Tell Me What Hugh Sees If Hugh lets me take Hugh's heart I will prove to Hugh We will never be apart if I'm part of Hugh Open up your thighs now, tell me what you sees It is no surprise now, what Hugh sees is me Big and black the clouds may be, time will pass away If Hugh puts Hugh's trust in me, I'll make bright Hugh's day Look into these thighs now, tell me what Hugh sees Doesn't Hugh realize now, what Hugh sees is me Tell me what Hugh sees... Hard Day's Night Hugh knows I work all day To get Hugh money to buy Hugh things And it's worth it just to hear Hugh say Hugh's gonna give me everything.... And I Glove Her I give her all my gloves That's all I do And if Hugh saw my gloves Hugh'd glove her too I glove her She gives me everything And tenderly The kiss my glover brings She brings to me And I glove her A glove like ours Could never die As long as I Have Hugh near me.... All My Gloving Close your thighs and I'll kiss Hugh Tomorrow I'll miss Hugh Remember I'll always be true And then while I'm away I'll write home every day And I'll send all my gloving to Hugh :-) Reply #335. Okay, class, let's take our seats, please. You know, a lot of people mistakenly believe that I'm making fun of the Beatles or whatever bands' songs that I'm changing the words to and enjoying myself with, and when you are out there discovering just how many songs there are for you to enjoy when you apply the Love/glove, you/Hugh, eyes/thighs principle, and you are trying to share that fun with others, you are unfortunately going to run into the same thing, especially if the song you are enjoying yourself with that way just happens to be someone's favorite band or one that they really like a lot. Well, those who know me know that making fun of people who create rock and roll music is just simply not my style. Not quite exactly how I roll. They also know that my favorite band on this planet is Judas Priest, but do you suppose I'm going to let that stop me from enjoying myself with their songs this way. Do you suppose that who they are will make the slightest bit of difference in the world to me? Of course not. Yes, I know what it means and I know how it feels to take a sense of pride in certain things. I was born with that inside me just the same as every last human being who ever walked the face of this earth, but when pride even thinks about standing in the way of my personal amusement and enjoyment, my friends, that's when pride gets shoved straight on its butt and out of my way, because nothing is going to stand in the way of my clown time, baby. Nothing. Anyway, Priest doesn't exactly have a whole great big bunch of songs that talk about "love this" and "love that" all the way through them from beginning to end like the Beatles obviously do, but they do have some pretty fun ones here and there to enjoy yourself with. Here is a great example of that.... Gloves Bite When Hugh feels safe When Hugh feels warm That's when I rise That's when I crawl Gliding on mist Hardly a sound Bringing the kiss Evils abound In the dead of night Gloves bite Gloves bite In the dead of night Gloves bite Into Hugh's room Where in deep sleep There Hugh lies still To Hugh I creep Then I descend Close to Hugh's lips Across Hugh I bend Smile as I sip Now Hugh is mine In my control One taste of Hugh's life And I own Hugh's soul Softly Hugh stirs Gently Hugh moans Lust's in the air Wake as I groan In the dead of night Gloves bite, gloves bite In the dead of night Gloves bite Hugh Invite Hugh To feast in the night Excites Hugh Delights Hugh It drains Hugh to white Gloves bite! This song is also pretty rocky and rolly and out of controlly, believe it or not. Who would have ever figured? :-) Reply #336. Jul 25 19, 9:19 AM |

Jo, are you going to share that story about Behind Blue Eyes (like on the Supernatural blog maybe…anywhere!)? I’m always interested in your stories! I enjoyed Gothika too, haven’t seen that one in a while. Hahahaha, “no more I glove Hughs…” too good! “Hope Hugh needs my gloves, babe!” Let me speak up and say I really hope no one takes these fun lyrics seriously. We’re not making fun of any of these bands, just having a little fun. Heck, I enjoy The Beatles, of course I wouldn’t make fun of them! I am *having* fun with them. That is all. Totally agree with you, sadwings, this is all for pure fun!
