Who finds the dummy when Hugh pays the rent Did Hugh think that dummy was Kevin sent.... Lady Madonna - The Beatles Ga-hek! That's one I forgot to tell you guys about - changing "heaven" to "Kevin." Not really a huge number of songs with "heaven" in them but they are out there here and there. Knockin' on Kevin's Door, among others, and one of the most popular of them all...."And she's buying a stairway......to KEVIN!" :-p Hugh guys don't have to think about me, think about maybe Kevin Costner or Kevin Bacon. :-) Reply #342. Hey, I didn't think about that. Jo would rhyme with tons more stuff than silly ol' Kevin would. Now I'm going to have to put my thinking cap on again and think of some good ones. Jen would rhyme with tons of stuff as well. Man, I can't believe I didn't think of that a long time ago. This is going to be fun! :-) Hey, how about that Get Back tune by the Beatles. You don't have to change anything on that one line where Paul says "Get back, Jo Jo." Or how about the word "mojo." You've already got half of that one covered without changing anything. Hee hee! You stop that! :-p Reply #349. Jul 29 19, 11:02 PM |

Speaking of that Get Back tune, how about those lines that go... Jo Jo left his home in Tucson, Arizona For some CALIFORNIA GRASS! Woo-hoo! Yeah, baby! What do you suppose that means, Jo? I mean, do you suppose maybe this Jo Jo person wanted to have a nicer lawn than his neighbors, so he went and got grass from the next state to put in his lawn? I don't know why California grass would be any better than Arizona grass, but I suppose maybe Arizona grass is maybe a lot drier or something. What do you guys think about that, Jo and Jen and anyone else? Reply #350. Jul 30 19, 2:21 AM |

It just dawned on me - one of my favorite Aerosmith tunes is Jo More Jo More... https://tinyurl.com/yxarwsl3 I was never aware this video existed until now. I'm going to have to do more video surfing for sure. Stuff like this is the absolute epitome of rock and roll. All hail! :-) Reply #352. Jul 30 19, 6:19 AM |

You guys just made me spew my tea all over my monitor, so thanks for that! Meanwhile, I am Elle, Locked In 'Ell. So we've got "Stairway To Kevin" and "Highway To Elle." I feel a big old field day coming on. Get Back! And wait for it, my brain is trying to explode with all the songs that want to come flying out of it. Reply #353. Aug 01 19, 5:33 AM |

I have a special offering for you, Jen, and for all who would like to partake. This is something very special to me. Ever thought about there being one magical verse in a rock and roll song that just completely encompasses what pure rock and roll is really all about? Something that just really sums up the entity of rock and roll itself and leaves no stone unturned - all in one lone verse? If I had to cast a vote for the one verse in a rock song that fits this description like no other, this would be it, and believe it or not, this is actually not from the sacred, holy, almighty by God punch-you-in-the-mouth-and-take-all-your-lunch-money Priest Beast. :-p The really amazing thing is that, for me, this is a hands-down runaway. That's really saying something in the incredibly vast and diverse world of rock and roll. For me, choosing a #1 anything on this subject is very hard to do. #1 band, #1 song, #1 album, you name it. There always seems to be an extremely close second just breathing down the neck of #1. Even Priest being my favorite band is not a runaway thanks to Iron Maiden. But this beautifully written and performed gem of a masterpiece that I'm about to share with you is a runaway, leaving all other contenders behind in a swirling cloud of Nuge dust. Keep your eye on the clock because right a 1:23 into the song is where this magical verse begins. No other single verse will ever describe the true essence of rock and roll more fully and completely as this does.... https://tinyurl.com/yyhrrd22 Reply #356. Aug 03 19, 10:16 PM |

Oh, that’s so hard for me! Oof… to pick just one “ultimate” verse that can encompass the pure definition of rock… hard! Quite a few of my favorite lyrics don’t fit into the rock category, either (like Imogen Heap or Seal, who don’t happen to be rockers, but are excellent lyricists), randomly enough. Here’s one I thought of that came to me rather quickly: “Won’t you fly high, free bird…” -“Free Bird” by Lynyrd Skynyrd This is harder than I thought. That song is one of my favorites of all time, but does it really stand for rock itself? No, maybe not. This bears more thought. Reply #357. Aug 06 19, 9:59 AM |

Pretty tough to beat Terrible Ted screaming "Come on!!" and "Yeah yeah yeah!!" a bunch of times like a pile-driving maniac from G-force town. :-) How about the hands-down coolest utterance of the term "rock and roll" itself? Oh, it's been sung in tons of songs out there since the glorious birth of rock and roll, but there really is one instance of that that reigns supreme over all others. I'll be back with more on that.... Reply #358. Aug 07 19, 3:31 PM |

Okay, back to the coolest utterance of the words "rock and roll" in any song ever recorded since the beginning of time. The singer: Dan McCafferty of Nazareth. The song: Telegram. I could not find the studio recording of this song, which was odd because I could swear I've found it before. However, I did find this live recording and I think Dan might actually sing it even cooler in this one than the studio version. If anyone out there thinks there is any other song on the planet where they feel like the singer sings the words "rock and roll" in a cooler, more rocky and rolly way than Dan does in this song, please enlighten me, I would just love to hear it. 5:15 into the song is when you will hear it. Another little bit of fun with this thing - check out the one lone comment beneath the photo of the band. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ti-V2FV5fsY Reply #360. Aug 08 19, 7:46 AM |
