Subject: Hated Team Heroes Topics

Posted by: Terry
Date: Sep 08 23

I have just added a handful of new Team Heroes topics that I believe have enough universal appeal as to work for the game.

On the other side of things, I'm curious if there are any universally reviled Team Heroes topics that (nearly) everyone wishes were removed from the game.

"Paganism" and "Universities & Colleges" are two that I have seen mentioned.

Any others that don't make great Team Heroes topics?

I'll take movies on vampires and zombies that were made before 1980 over any of the movie horror series. I won't watch a movie about Jason or whoever in the hockey mask or has the slaher fingernails or who keeps killing the babysitters because he wants to knock off Jamie Lee Curtis.

And I hate when a mixed quiz has questions about Bela Lugosi and slasher gore under the same heading.

Currencies, when the majority of the questions are US based.

Any Music topic after the 1970s :)

Oh, and anything at all involving Tolkien makes me cringe.

I understand, however, that others enjoy these and grit my teeth.

After years of people asking for sports to be included, it finally was. Wide World of Sports is a new topic. Give it time to find the right mix.

Though not a sportsman or sports follower of any note, I've no issues with this topic being included. My hope, however, is that the the "Wide World" referred to in the title refers to a world that contains more countries than the U.S.A.

Also agree that religion seems to be overrepresented as a topic.

Has there been a post somewhere saying that sports has been added to Heroes? If so could someone point me in the direction for it?
Obviously it still hasn’t turned up in the Heroes game yet as documented by the other thread about Yesterday’s Team Heroes topic so I just wondered how it was known that it had been added.

Thanks.

I can't stand the Math/ Mathematics category, so I just don't play Heroes when it pops up. I think we all have categories we love and categories we love to hate.

Topics that can be a very niche subject. Maths, Horses, Collectibles. Subjects that are liable to including questions that are too detailed and pernickety for the average player to have any hope of knowing the answer to.

Even though I did quite poorly today due to six Bollywood questions, I am really loving seeing some different categories in this game.

I didn't think I was going to hate today's Team Heroes topic, Non-Fiction (Literature). But perhaps a third of all the questions did not seem to pertain to the category, rather the heights and names of British mountains and munros. Yes, I acknowledge someone wrote about them in a series of books and thus the question are in the pool. But asking niche info (which I imagine to be drawn from one or two quizzes at best) for such a hefty portion of the category seems wrong. The rest of the questions were mostly biographical in nature, or concerned historical events, a much broader and more appropriate range for the Non-Fiction category. As much as I like Geography as a category, finding it in a supposed Literature quiz shouldn't be happening like this.

I don’t have any issue with individual topics, but it is annoying to get so many questions from the *same* quiz.

Not that I hate it, but Ontario (Geography) has been the topic two of the last three Wacky Wednesdays. Guess I'll see if I learned anything two weeks ago.

For a management team claiming to introduce new topics to spice things up I'd suggest 2 Ontario quizzes is three too many.
