Volunteered by her mom to substitute for the church's ill soloist one Sunday morning, Donna sang several selections including, "I Found the Answer, I Learned to Pray".

According to Casey Casem, host of "America's Top 20", Donna was inspired to write the song after seeing a European lady, a powder room attendant, sleeping in a ladies room. Donna thought that the lady evidently works very hard, and the idea for the song was born.
