Answer: knowledge
Fear does not mean to be scared of, in this sense. It means to have respect for. It comes from the Latin word "reverentia" which means both fear and respect.

Answer: show himself to be friendly
Sometimes the most obvious answer is the correct one. The King James Version renders Proverbs 18:24 this way, "A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother."
A person must show themselves to be friendly toward others in order to make friends. Hmmm. What a simple concept.
Think about it. How many friends would you have if you were always angry, snarly and hateful to everyone that you met?

Answer: Wisdom
Proverbs 4:6 says: "Don't abandon wisdom, and she will watch over you; love her, and she will guard you." The first part of Proverbs 4 (verses 1-9) is written as a father giving advice to his children. It speaks of wisdom and understanding and the importance of holding on to them. Some Bible commentaries, such as Gill's Exposition of the Entire Bible, compare wisdom in these verses to Christ.

Answer: when he was living with a brawling woman
The King James Version of this scripture puts it this way: "It is better to live in a corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman in a wide house."
Now, this might be rather obvious, but consider this statement as well...
Don't give your wife a REASON to have a brawling nature, and don't engage in it yourself!

Answer: A loving doe
Proverbs 5:18-19: "Let your fountain be blessed, and take pleasure in the wife of your youth. A loving doe, a graceful fawn--let her breasts always satisfy you; be lost in her love forever." Many men are tempted by what they do not have, and don't enjoy that which they do have. Here, Solomon is giving advice on not falling into the temptation of adultery by delighting in one's own wife.

Answer: but a lying tongue lasts only a moment.
The correct answer is "but a lying tongue lasts only a moment." The passage in question comes from Proverbs 12:19. To put the verse in perspective, here's how verses 18 to 20 read: "Reckless words pierce like a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing. Truthful lips endure forever, but a lying tongue lasts only a moment. There is deceit in the hearts of those who plot evil, but joy for those who promote peace."

Answer: Repent
Wisdom reaches out to the fools and the mockers by giving them a chance to change their ways.
"How long will you who are simple love your simple ways? How long will mockers delight in mockery, and fools hate knowledge? Repent at my rebuke! Then I will pour out my thoughts to you, I will make known to you my teachings." Proverbs 1:20-23
However the fools and the mockers choose not to listen. Wisdom gives them a warning that she will laugh when disaster and distress strike them.

Answer: Wisdom
All of Proverbs 8 is a monologue from the personified Wisdom. As verse 4 establishes, "People, I call out to you; my cry is to mankind." God's wisdom is there for the taking, but as verse 17 suggests, one must look for it. It cannot be gained by simply sitting around doing nothing. This is echoed in Matthew 7:7, "Keep asking, and it will be given to you. Keep searching, and the door will be opened to you."

From Quiz: Pronouns and Proverbs
Answer: the fruit of his mouth
Proverbs 18:20-21 says this: "A man's belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled. Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof."
So, let's see. We eat the FRUIT of our own mouths and we use our TONGUES to speak death or life to ourselves...
Interesting thought. We either eat death or life, according to the words that we actually speak. Mull this over a bit and consider: Do YOU condemn or enliven yourself with YOUR own words? If you speak words of faith and truth, this verse says you "eat" of that faith; if you speak of doubt and defeat, well, you get to "eat" of those words. (Yuck!)
From Quiz: Proverbially Speaking
Answer: Death
The personified Wisdom is still talking and ending her appeal to mankind. The first part of the verse reveals that harm is brought upon one's self through sin. This harm through sin only leads to one end: death. The love for sin reflects a hate for God, which puts man on the path to death.
From Quiz: Love Is a Four Letter Word
Answer: If God sees one's self-satisfied attitude, He may turn away His wrath from one's enemy.
It IS human nature to want somehow to "even the score", and that is the problem. The Bible indicates that no one is made judge of other men, although nearly everybody sometimes loses sight of that fact. God has reserved that for Himself, and Himself alone.
The King James Version of Proverbs 24, 17th and 18th verses puts it this way:
"Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, and let not thine heart be glad when he stumbleth: Lest the Lord see it, and it displease him, and he turn away his wrath from him."
In a very human desire to see justice done, one errs when trying to administer one's finite judgement without knowledge of ALL the facts. Just because humans tend to see justice served a certain way, this may not be God's way of judging at all. The Bible teaches that all people are sinners, after all, and if each person got what he "deserved", it would be most pitiable. Instead, God offers justice tempered with mercy, something humans so often forget in demanding pure justice alone.

Answer: foolish
This verse is a warning that if you hang around foolish people, you, yourself, will start to do foolish things. In most cases, when someone is doing right and someone is doing wrong, the person doing wrong tends to have more influence on people doing right. For example, if you don't drink but all your friends do, more than likely you will eventually drink as well.

Clamorous means "constantly seeking attention" (www.dictionary.com). This is in contrast with a woman who goes about her business because it's what she has to do, not because she wants attention for doing it. It is never good to be boastful and proud, rather one should do the right thing and let others boast for them.
