Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which less-than-gracious man verbally and physically attacked King David when David was fleeing from Jerusalem when Absalom staged a coup?

Answer: Shimei

This passage is found in 2 Samuel 16:5-13. Shimei came out to meet David cursing and throwing stones and dirt at the king. David's men wanted to kill the belligerent man, but David restrained them.
2. What was the name of the Midianite woman who had an affair with Zimri while the Israelites were camped at Shittim during their 40-year trek to the Promised Land?

Answer: Cozbi

While camped at Shittim, the Israelites began to fraternize with the native Midianites which was against the Hebrews' religious law. Using Zimri and Cozbi as an example, Phineas the son of the high priest, killed them both in a single stroke of a javelin. This passage is found in Numbers 25. When God says "NO", this passage says, He means "NO"!
3. What did Eutychus do to get mentioned in the Bible?

Answer: fell out a window

Poor tired boy! When Paul was preaching in Troas, Eutychus fell asleep while sitting in a window, fell out, and died as a result. However, Paul was able to restore life to the unfortunate youth. This is described in Acts 20:7-12.
4. Was Sapphira a righteous and honest woman according to the book of Acts?

Answer: No

Along with her husband, Ananias, she may have started out with good intentions by selling their possessions in order to donate the money to the early church. However, they decided to keep some of the money and only turned part of the proceeds over to Peter, while claiming they were holding nothing back. They were both struck dead for their attempted deception in Acts 5:1-10.
5. Although Sarah was the most famous wife of the Biblical patriarch Abraham, he married again after Sarah's death. Who was Abraham's other wife?

Answer: Keturah

Keturah had six children by Abraham: Zimran, Jokshan, Medan, Midian, Ishbak, and Shuah (Genesis 25:1-2). She is mentioned again in 1 Chronicles 1.
6. What was the name of the priest who met Abraham as he was returning from rescuing his nephew Lot from being kidnapped by the warring kings of Canaan?

Answer: Melchizedek

Melchizedek, the mysterious king and high priest of Salem, blessed Abraham with bread and wine (Genesis 14:18-20). Christian Biblical scholars interpret this as an institution of the Eucharist and liken Melchizedek to Jesus as both a priest and king. Melchizedek is also mentioned several times in the book of Hebrews and in Psalm 110.
7. What king was so fat that when he was stabbed, the long dagger disappeared inside him?

Answer: Eglon

Eglon was attacked by Ehud because of this king's oppression of the Israelites. Ehud was left-handed and able to hide his concealed dagger when he approached Eglon. The weapon was about a cubit in length (18 inches or 46 centimeters), but even the hilt of the dagger went fully inside the obese monarch, as told in Judges 3:14-26.
8. What remarkable possession of Og, king of Bashan, is mentioned in the Old Testament?

Answer: his bed

The third chapter of Deuteronomy describes the defeat of this giant king by the Israelites. Apparently his bed was unusual enough to elicit comment being 9 by 4 cubits (approximately 14 by 6 feet or 4 by 2 meters), according to Deuteronomy 3:11.
9. Rhoda was only mentioned by name once, but was it in the Old or New Testament?

Answer: New

She answered the door when Peter knocked at the gate of Mark's mother's house after having escaped from prison. However, she did not let him in at first, but ran to tell the other disciples. See Acts 12:13-16.
10. Who was struck dead for touching the Ark of the Covenant while it was being moved from Gibeah to Jerusalem?

Answer: Uzzah

No huzzahs for Uzzah! When the oxen stumbled that were pulling the cart on which the Ark rested, Uzzah reached out to steady it and was immediately punished. The poor man was just trying to help, but the law was that no one could directly touch the Ark and live. See 2 Samuel 6:6-7.
