Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Visiting the Blue City of Morocco, Chefchaouen, in Leg 3, the teams combined into one of the largest groups in "The Amazing Race" history. How many teams competed in this leg?

Answer: Eighteen

In Legs 1 and 2 of this race, ten teams departed from Melbourne and Sydney, respectively and raced to Ouarzazate and Marrakesh, both in Morocco, facing their first legs before arriving at the Spanish Mosque to discover that nine other teams would be joining their groups to form a playing field of eighteen remaining teams (one team from each group was eliminated in their first leg).

It meant that thirty-six racers would travel through the blue-and-white streets of Chefchaouen, stay overnight, and check into the Pit Stop there the next day. Jake and Holly, who took a penalty on the night of their arrival, were eliminated after arriving at the Pit Stop in first, but checking in in last.
2. In Leg 5, teams visited the island of Santorini, stopping at all of these villages save for which?

Answer: Imerovigli

While teams took a tour of Athens in Leg 4, they were flown to the famous island of Santorini for Leg 5, hopping into vehicles and taking a trip to three different island villages and towns to complete their tasks. After completing a Detour task in the Vlychada Fishing Port, teams hauled luggage (and a donkey) up the Karavolades Stairs in Fira.

Then, after a parkour Road Block across the roofs of Oia's picturesque cliffside houses, they checked in at one of only a small number of non-elimination Pit Stops at the Church of Panagia Akathistos Hymn.
3. Teams' trips to Mount Parnassus and Arachova, Greece in Leg 6 were marred by which of the following?

Answer: A blizzard

Arriving in Arachova, Greece in Leg 6, teams completed tasks in the village before taking a bus high up onto Mount Parnassus proper. Though they were expected to complete a series of tasks near the snowy summit, an unexpected blizzard shifted the plans for the leg almost entirely.

After creating a snowman to collect a clue, teams reboarded their buses and departed on foot for the Pit Stop in the order they completed the task, aiming to check in and avoid elimination.
4. As a result of host Beau Ryan contracting COVID-19, teams were greeted at the seventh Pit Stop (in Izmir, Türkiye) by which of these?

Answer: A robot

Teams travelled to the west coast of Türkiye for Legs 7, 8, and 9, and in doing so visited the seaside city of Izmir. At the same time, Beau Ryan was sidelined with a positive COVID-19 test and forced to wait in quarantine in Athens so, while calling in a temporary replacement host (Scott Tweedie, who would appear in rural Türkiye in Leg 8), the greeter at the mat was replaced by Turkish-made Akinrobotics robot, ADA, who welcomed the teams as they checked in (and eliminated Crystal and Reem). Teams also visited Nazarköy, Kula, and Alaçati during their legs here.
5. El Peñól de Guatapé was the landmark of note in Leg 11, when teams made their way around Medellín, Colombia. How did teams reach the top of it?

Answer: By stairs

This massive stone landmark was one of the many beautiful destinations visited by teams in the Medellín leg, sandwiched between Leg 10 in Bogotá and Leg 12 in Cartagena, Colombia. With four teams in isolation due to positive COVID-19 tests, only six teams raced up El Peñól's intense stair climb to collect their Detour clue at the summit. Following this, they proceeded back into Medellín proper to complete their tasks and check in in the city's westernmost neighbourhood-- San Javier commune-- at the race's penultimate non-elimination Pit Stop.
6. Due to an injury sustained on the race course, which team couldn't make it to the race's fourteenth Pit Stop at Xunantunich, depicted?

Answer: Fliss and Tottie

Leaving Belize City for San Ignacio, the four remaining teams were reunited with four of the five teams still sidelined (to that point) with COVID-19 isolation and they continued through the Belize countryside. Fliss and Tottie, however, sustained an injury when heading on foot through the rainforest to their Detour at Cahal Pech, and because of this, they were not cleared to continue with the race.

This is why, when teams checked into the Pit Stop atop a pyramid at Xunantunich, no one else was eliminated.
7. Visiting Caye Caulker, Belize in Leg 15, teams heading to the Pit Stop had to cross which of these locations, depicted, by ferry?

Answer: The Split

Eight teams proceeded to Caye Caulker in Leg 15, completing their trip through Belize with this beautiful coastal region known for its island life and white sand beaches. There, on top of swimming with sharks and going for a bike ride, teams had to get from one island to the next, crossing The Split by local ferry before locating Beau at the beach bar Pit Stop. Though Jodie and Claire were saved from elimination in the previous leg, this stop sealed their fate.
8. Convento de San Antonio de Padua, seen here, was visited by teams in Leg 18 in what country?

Answer: Mexico

The last international destination that the teams headed through, narrowing the field from seven to five, was Mexico as they raced in the Yucatan Peninsula from Campeche to Mérida to Izamal. In addition to winnowing their numbers through an exhausting series of tasks, teams had to contend with two Virtual Pit Stops, implying they would proceed without any rest whatsoever that a Pit Stop would normally grant them. Because of this, no one was eliminated in Campeche, but Chelsea and Jamus were eliminated while people kept racing out of Mérida. Convento de San Antonio de Padua, in Izamal, was visited by teams for a Road Block at the start of Leg 18.
9. The penultimate leg of the race (Leg 20) had teams visiting Rottnest Island. Which team did not survive the leg?

Answer: Tiffany and Cynthia

For their final three legs, teams travelled back to Australia with the chief goal of reaching the last stretch for the grand prize. To get there, however, teams had to first encounter two legs in Perth, Western Australia, where they faced some of the most difficult tasks of the race.

After Pako and Mori failed to complete a heights-based challenge in Leg 19 leading to their penalty and elimination, Tiffany and Cynthia were narrowly outrun by teams along the coast at Fremantle Harbour to find their own elimination in Leg 20.

In this leg, teams also had racers skydiving over Rottnest Island, perhaps one of the most frightening challenges of the competition.
10. The last leg of the race took place in which Australian city, the site of the Finish Line?

Answer: Broome

At long last, three teams raced to the city of Broome to complete their "Amazing Race" adventure, wrapping up the season and the course in one of Australia's most remote destinations. What resulted was a series of eating tasks, luck challenges, efforts of teamwork, and tests of memory to determine which of the racers would cross the finish line in first place.

At the end of the course, teams crossed the finish line on the rocks at Gantheaume Point and Heath and Toni checked in in first position, winning themselves $250,000 AUD and two Isuzu vehicles.

The landmark win cemented Toni as the first-ever female winner of "The Amazing Race Australia" as a result.
