Julie was introduced in "Detective" 31, but only appeared a few times after that. She was acting in the remake of a movie, "Death Castle" , that Clayface was out to disrupt. He was killing off the characters in the order they died in the film, and Julie was next in line when Batman stepped in.

Called simply "The Cat" in her first appearance, she spent most of the story disguised as an elderly woman. She did not appear in costume until her second appearance, "Batman" #2.
