Ryan Bielby, a fourteen year old girl, died when she fell from the Timber Wolf. She fell about 25 feet and was the first person to die at Worlds of Fun. Witnesses say she was switching seats when she fell. Hunt-Midwest Entertainment Inc., the park's owner at the time, and the ride's builder gave her family 200,000 dollars in a settlement.

The ride was closed down and new safety lap bars were added to the ride.
