1. Who likes to eat green eggs and ham?

Answer: Sam I Am

Sam I Am is from Dr. Seuss' "Green Eggs and Ham", and spends the entire story convincing his friend that said dish is worth a nibble.
2. In "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" by Roald Dahl, which of the children ends up shrinking down to no more than one inch tall?

Answer: Mike Teavee

"Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" was written in Buckinghamshire, England, in 1964, and is the prequel to "Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator".
3. In Max Lucado's "You Are Special", what caused Punchinello's grey dots to fall off?

Answer: He believed that he was special

Sorry if not many of you have read this! It's been a family favourite for years, and I just had to include it.

The grey dots were given to Punchinello by the people in his village to represent his failure to be good-looking or talented. When he realizes that he is worth more than a label, the dots fall off.
4. "Love You Forever" by Robert Munsch is a beautiful book that everyone should grow up with. What does the mother sing to her son while he's asleep? "I'll love you forever, I'll like you for always. As long as I'm living ________________"

Answer: My baby you'll be

In this story, the mother sings this song to her son all throughout his life - from birth and into his middle ages - until she is too ill to sing anymore. Instead, her son cradles her in his arms and sings her the song before singing it to his own baby. So cute :)
5. In "The Kissing Hand" by Audrey Penn, what kind of animal is Chester?

Answer: Raccoon

This story was written especially for children who are afraid to leave home for the firsts time. If you have never read it before, Chester finds the courage to leave his mother to go to school when she kisses his palm - giving him a piece of her love to carry around with him wherever he goes.
6. "Alligator Baby" is a fun little story written by Robert Munsch. Where does Kristen's mother go to have her baby delivered?

Answer: The zoo

Kristen's parents got lost on their way to the hospital, so instead her mother gave birth in the zoo. But instead of taking home a pink and plump baby human, they brink back a baby alligator - followed by a baby seal and a gorilla.
7. In the famous book by Margery Williams, why was the Velveteen Rabbit about to be burned?

Answer: The Boy got scarlet fever, and all of his toys had to be burned

The doctor ordered that all of the Boy's books and toys that he came in contact with during his illness be burned to reduce the risk of spreading the disease.
8. Complete this quote from Dr. Seuss's "There's a Wocket in my Pocket!" "Do you ever have the feeling there's a ___________ in your basket?"

Answer: Wasket

The boy in this story has a house that's infested with rhyming vermin! Wockets in pockets, Noothgrushes on toothbushes, Wellars and Gellars in the cellar . . . at least some of them are friendly!
9. I'm not sure how many of you grew up with this . . . In "The Adventures of Snail at School" by John Stadler, what is the name of Snail's skeptical teacher?

Answer: Mrs. Harvey

Snail makes the ocean come out of a water fountain, flies a fire extinguisher to outer space, and summons a series of instruments to march to his classroom with a magic baton . . . But no one will believe him.
10. In E.B. White's "Charlotte's Web", what is the name of the rat?

Answer: Templeton

E.B. White also the author of "Stuart Little" - another famous children's book.
11. In "Tuck Everlasting" by Natalie Babbitt, why did the Tucks kidnap Winnie?

Answer: They had to explain to her why she couldn't drink from the spring

Winnie had found the spring that gave the Tucks eternal life, and they couldn't have her suffering from the same curse.
12. "The Stinky Cheese Man . . ." by Scieszka and Smith is a compilation of parodies on classic fairytales. In their version of 'Cinderella', which irrelevant character makes a cameo?

Answer: Rumplestiltskin

*sigh* Cinderella is forced to stay home while her ugly stepsisters go to another royal ball without her . . . but wait! Rumpelstiltskin is here to save the day! Unfortunately, his gold and name-guessing don't do much good, but instead earn the poor girl the name "Cinderumpelstiltskin".
13. In The original Grimm's fairy tale "Snow White", how is the princess brought back to life?

Answer: The poison apple is jolted from her mouth

The Brothers Grimm would never be so romantic. Instead of a gentle kiss, the prince's servants accidentally dropped Snow White's coffin while carrying it down the mountain where it was placed. On the impact, the poisoned apple flew out of her mouth, and she came back to life.
14. In "Eragon" by Christopher Paolini, how many times does Eragon lose consciousness?

Answer: Ten

I like this book a lot, but it seems that every chapter ends with Eragon passing out. At first it's almost heart-wrenching, but by about the seventh time, you just get the impression that this kid's just weak.
15. In the book "Holes" by Louis Sachar, what is the nickname given to Stanley's illiterate friend?

Answer: Zero

"You know why his name's Zero?" asked Mr. Pendanski. "Because there's nothing inside his head."
