The Mermaids and Mako Trivia Quiz

Answer: Orange

The tails are orange. In "Visions" Lewis gets a nightmare of Cleo being exposed. Later Cleo dives in the water to get a large orange bear. Lewis goes after her. People see Cleo, but Lewis says it was the orange bear they saw.

Answer: 10 seconds

They say it's 10 seconds, but that's not absolutely true. In "Double Trouble" Rikki and Zane get splashed by Nate. Rikki asks Zane for help, runs away and dives in the water before Nate sees her. It takes her about 25 seconds to dive in the water and she still isn't a mermaid.

But in "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" Cleo accidentally splashes some water in Rikki's face and she already is a mermaid after 3 seconds.

Answer: In the Moon Pool at Mako Island

Because of Rikki they end up at Mako Island. They're trying to find a way out and find the Moon Pool. Emma finds a way out under water. When they're in the Moon Pool the full moon passes over and the water begins to bubble. The next day they find out they're a mermaid. Emma when she goes swimming, Cleo in the bathtub and Rikki when she's hit by sprinklers.

Answer: In the sea caves in Ireland

When she is 9 she goes exploring. She finds the sea caves, where there's a Moon Pool too. In that pool she becomes a mermaid. In "The Awakening" there's a flashback of a 9-year-old Bella who becomes a mermaid. It's strange that Bella is already a mermaid there, while Emma, Cleo and Rikki became a mermaid for the first time the next day.

Answer: Nate

Lewis is the first to find out. In "Pool Party" Zane and Nate throw Cleo in the pool and Lewis helps her out. Zane finds out when Dr. Denman catches the mermaids. Dr. Denman works with Zane's father and Zane follows him. He sees the girls in the Moon Pool. Ash finds out when Emma shows him. Ash is irritated because Emma has so many secrets and won't tell him, so she decides to show him.

His reaction is different from the others. The others were shocked, but all he says is: "Cool".

Answer: Miss Chatham

She first appears in "Party Girls". She knows their secret, which surprises the girls. She used to be a mermaid herself, but she gave up her powers because it was too hard for her. She always appears at times they don't expect her, but they can never find her when they want to.

She also has the habit of disappearing. In "The Siren Effect" she warns Cleo about the full moon. Cleo's mother calls and when she turns back Miss Chatham disappeared and Cleo says: "I wish she'd stop doing that".

Answer: They lose their powers for 12 hours

When Dr. Denman is after them, they use the lunar eclipse, so she wouldn't be interested in them anymore. They think they've lost their powers forever, but Miss Chatham didn't tell them it was only for 12 hours. The next morning they find out they have their powers back. Lewis says Miss Chatham didn't tell because if they believed their powers were gone forever, Dr. Denman would believe that too.

It only works when they're in the Moon Pool.

Answer: The Moon Pool at Mako Island

In "Bad Moon Rising" Rikki gets moonstruck and goes to Mako Island. Miss Chatham tells them to go to the Moon Pool because that's the only safe place. Lewis doesn't believe her. He says: "No, it doesn't make any sense. Water and moonlight are what bring on this full moon madness. And then you're telling them to go to the Moon Pool, which is a pool of water full of moonlight on nights like this", but Miss Chatham says she knows from personal experience.

They try to avoid the moonlight at home, but they always fail. The water is the last place where they would be safe, since they can't touch water at a full moon.

Answer: In the cone of a volcano

When they first come there Rikki mentions that it's the cone of a volcano. There is an underwater entrance, but that's not the only way to get there.

Answer: Rocks from the moon

Cleo does some research on a rock from the Moon Pool. Ryan gets interested. The rock appears to have a strong magnetic force. They measure it and the magnetism is off the scale. Ryan says that the only rocks with so much magnetism come from the moon. According to Cleo that explains why the Moon Pool and the moon are related so closely, because it's the same stuff.
