1. What is the capital of the Republic of the Congo?

Answer: Brazzaville

The Republic of the Congo is located in west-central Africa and borders the Atlantic Ocean to the west. Brazzaville borders the city Kinshasa, which is the capital of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Their combined metro areas have more than nine million inhabitants. Brazzaville and Kinshasa are separated by the Congo River.

This is the only place on Earth where two national capital cities are situated across a river and in sight of each other.

2. Which country has a capital consisting of more than one word?

Answer: Ethiopia

The capital of Ethiopia is Addis Ababa. It was founded in 1886 and is considered a city-state (sovereign state consisting of a city and its dependent territories). Addis Ababa has little violent crimes and thus is a common place for tourists.
The other capitals are Reykjavik, Iceland; Ottawa, Canada; and Lisbon, Portugal.

Answer: Philippines

Together, they account for more than two thirds of the area of the Philippines, although there are more than 7,000 other islands in the country. Mindanao is to the south and occupies 94,000 sq kms and Luzon is the northern island. It is 104,000 sq kms and is also the location of the capital, Manila.

Answer: Gibraltar

Gibraltar is a British territory, home to approximately 30,000 citizens, at the entrance to the Strait of Gibraltar. During World War II, the Rock of Gibraltar, known for its concealed caves, was prepared as a Royal Navy station with a hospital, armament rooms, kitchen and officers sleeping quarters. Secret passage ways were also constructed as escape routes from enemy infiltration. From the Rock, the Navy conducted surveillance of the entrance and exit of vessels through the Strait of Gibraltar.

The caves also hold anthropological evidence of Neanderthal bones and artifacts. Hundreds of Barbary macaques live in the upper levels of the Rock and are protected from extinction.

7. What English city was named Aquae Sulis by the Romans after the same feature that gives the city its modern name?

Answer: Bath

The mineral springs at Aquae Sulis (literally "the waters dedicated to the goddess Sulis") were a popular pilgrimage destination at the time of the Romans. Much of the old ruins are, unfortunately, ruined due to flooding and the subsequent "recycling" of buildings as paving stones. What remains, however, is still one of the finest Roman ruins in Britain.

Cape Columbia and Cape Spear are capes that make up two of Canada's extreme points. Cape Columbia on Ellesmere Island in Nunavut is the northernmost point in Canada, and boasts the world's most northern point of land outside of Greenland. Cape Spear is located on the Avalon Peninsula on the island of Newfoundland, and it is Canada's easternmost point of land.
