Father was killed by a tree that fell on him, when he went away into the woods to make Rigg search for him. However, it was a ploy to get Rigg to go find his sister, and we later found out that Father was really alive.

Answer: Kyokay

Kyokay was Umbo's younger brother, who was well-known for getting into dangerous scrapes. Umbo thought he saw Rigg push Kyokay over the falls, but in reality, Rigg sacrificed the furs he and Father collected to try to save him.

Answer: It marked him as the heir apparent for the throne.

The royal family was matriarchal in descent, which meant that Rigg's sister Param Sessaminka should have been the heir if the monarchy was still allowed. However, the -ekesh suffix stood for heir apparent to the throne back when it was patriarchal in ascension for the throne.

Answer: Loaf and Leaky

Loaf and Leaky came from a village with a tradition of naming children for something they looked like or something they did. Loaf got his name because he looked like a loaf of bread, while Leaky was named because she drooled and did the normal baby things. They owned a pub in Leaky's Landing, the town.

Answer: Expendables

They were called Expendables, who were genetically engineered people. They did not truly live, however, and were almost immortal. Father was an Expendable, which was why Rigg could not see his path. Father faked his own death in order to get Rigg to leave for the capital city, Aressa Sessamo.

Later, we found out that while the jump was successful, Ram's own powers accidentally interacted with the computer's information, causing nineteen copies of the ship to be created going forward (along with nineteen copies going backward, but those were simply shades to help deal with Newton's Third Law of Motion) and pushed back in time, 11,191 years to be precise. All the copies of Ram were killed except one, on the basis that the real Ram did not specify the word "immediately" within his order to kill all copies of himself except the one giving the order at the time.

When they reached the planet, Ram christened it to be Garden. They, the Expendables and Ram, took samples of all the plants and animals, and Ram was put into sleep while the Expendables turned the planet into a human-friendly environment. With nineteen copies of the same people save Ram, they split the planet into nineteen Wallfolds, in order to observe the differences within the gene pool. However, only one Wallfold put Ram's DNA into the mix, the Wallfold where Rigg and company lived. It can be assumed that Rigg, Umbo, and Parem were his descendents, as they shared similarities to his psychic abilities.

Answer: The top.

The Tower of O was a pilgrimage site, and was a place where most of the visitors to O went to. The tower wasn't really sectioned into rooms, but the map was in the main room of the tower. The map showed the entire planet of Garden, including all 19 Wallfolds.

The top of the tower was off-limits to everybody. While it was not stated why the top of the tower was off-limits, we could guess that it was because the top was part of the bridge of the ship.

It's true, Rigg met his mother almost immediately when he arrived in Aressa Sessamo, the captial of the Wallfold. He was then put under house arrest with the rest of the royal family. Rigg's mother was the first in line for the throne, so she would have been queen.

In one such event, back at Stashi Falls, Rigg ended up trying to pry a man's fingers from the rock in order to try and save Kyokay. When Umbo stops using his power, Rigg seemed to disappear to the man, making him believe Rigg was a demon. The man became the Wandering Saint.

In another event later in the book, Rigg, Umbo, and Loaf were sitting on stools in a noodle shop in Aressa Sessamo, eating their noodles. They decided to experiment and went back in time, back when a man was steering his boat through the reeds of the delta where Aressa Sessamo was built. They found their portrait on the wall of the noodle shop when they returned to the present.

Answer: The Wall created feelings of despair and terror despite the fact that there was no barrier.

The Wall created so much terror and despair, it could be felt a mile away. Soldiers who had to patrol the Wall often did not patrol for long, or else they went mad. Those who got too close to it either turned around unconsciously or went insane.

The only person to ever successfully go through the Wall before Rigg, Umbo, Loaf, Param, and Olivenko (a deserter of the army) was Knosso Sissamik, Rigg and Param's father. He was under sleeping drugs and in a boat, though the Expendable in the Wallfold that the quintet ended up in said it would not have made a difference; Knosso would still have been insane. The Expendable in the Wallfold Knosso entered did his duty and killed Knosso when he made it through.

The number 19 was mentioned many, many times throughout the book. There were 19 Wallfolds, 19 copies of Ram's ship, 19 spires in the Tower of O, and 19 jewels that Father left to Rigg, as well as many other instances of the number appearing throughout the book.
