Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What is the full scientific name for the ivy which scars Ashalind's face?

Answer: hedera paradoxis

It is also called paradox ivy, but hedera paradoxis is the scientific name. I made the other two up
2. In Isse Tower, the servants tell many stories about eldritch wights. What is the first wight Brand Brinkworth tells a story about?

Answer: Each Uisge

Each Uisge is a terrifying water horse, that was once part of the Unseelie Attriod.
3. Who is Thorn really?

Answer: Angavar

Imrhien/Ashalind decides to return to Erith after seeing his face and realising he won't make it back to the land of faery in time
4. What name does Sianadh call Ashalind by when they first meet

Answer: Mo reigh

Mo reigh means my pretty, which was, of course, a joke. He does also call her chehrna (dear damsel), and later gives her the name Imrhien
5. Which of these names doesn't Ashalind use at any point in the trilogy?

Answer: Dianella

Dianella is a lady at court who plots to kill Ashalind.
6. Which two main characters are Ertish?

Answer: Sianadh and Thomas of Ercildoune

Muirne and Diarmid (Sianadh's niece and nephew) are also Ertish. Maeve One Eye is the carlin who heals Ashalind's face, and Pod is a servant at Isse Tower
7. Which character's brothers were turned into ravens?

Answer: Janet

Trenowyn is Janet's last name, and Roland is her father.
8. What is the password that will open the casket with the key in it?

Answer: elindor

I got the other three from the word list at the back of The Ill Made Mute. Obban Tesh is an expletive, and the other two words are insults.
9. Who eats the goblin fruit?

Answer: Viviana

For much of the third book, Viviana is longing for the goblin fruit, and Ashalind is suffering from the Langothe, leaving Caitri the only member of their party not longing for something.
10. What happens to Ashalind at the very end of the trilogy?

Answer: She flies away with Thorn and is never seen again in Erith.

In an interview, Cecilia Dart Thornton said that the second (and in my mind better) ending was the real one.
