Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. On my way to Paris, I was disgracefully robbed by a man in Meung (upon whom I vowed vengeance). I arrived in Paris with next to nothing, and on an old yellow horse given to me by my father.

Answer: D'Artagnan

Unfortunately for our beloved hero D'Artagnan, his father gave him very little when he left for Paris. His yellow horse was the ridicule of many, and in the small town of Meung, D'Artagnan was robbed by the infamous Man of Meung, later revealed to be Rochefort.
2. My husband hired D'Artagnan to find me after I was mysteriously abducted. When he did find me, he naturally fell in love me. But alas! That love was not meant to be as in the end I was poisoned by a sworn enemy of the Musketeers.

Answer: Madame Bonacieux

As another blow to D'Artagnan in the end his beloved Madame Bonacieux was poisoned, by none other then Milady de Winter. Madame Bonacieux was poisoned after she met Milady in the convent where she was seeking safety, and unknowingly drank some poisoned wine from Milady (which seems to be her specialty).
3. I was a loyal servant, until I was corrupted and manipulated by a prisoner. Eventually, I broke the prisoner free and assassinated a high ranking official in England. But the murder of the Duke was what God would have wanted, and I have no regrets in his death.

Answer: Tom Felton

Milady de Winter was certainly very skilled in many things, including manipulating poor souls. Felton, a strict Puritan, already has the idea that Buckingham was the Anti-Christ, and Milady played off that belief, eventually turning him into a fanatic.
4. I am respected by all of the musketeers and am on less friendly terms with the guardsmen. The King holds me in high favor, though I wish I could say the same about the Cardinal. However I care little about what the Cardinal thinks, as it is obvious that my musketeers are superior to his guardsmen.

Answer: Monsieur de Tréville

Monsieur de Tréville was the leader of the Musketeers, and was especially friendly to our four heroes. D'Artagnan always knew that he could trust Tréville with anything.
5. I am one of the main antagonists in "The Three Musketeers". I was once thought dead, but no, you cannot kill me. My malice knows no limits, especially to the heroes of the book, the Musketeers.

Answer: Milady de Winter

Milady de Winter, who was Athos' ex-wife, was thought to have been hung by Athos, but alas, she did not die and went on to escape. As one of the Cardinal's fervent supporters, she acts as the main antagonist in "The Three Musketeers".
6. I was on my way to England when I was overtaken by a man. To add insult to injury I found out this man was a young musketeer and an enemy of His Eminence. Seeing as I am one of His Grace's most loyal servants, I refused to lose to this filthy scum. However, this musketeer out-dueled me and took the paper which allowed him to get to England and eventually retrieve the diamond studs. By now you should know who I am.

Answer: Comte de Wardes

The Comte de Wardes was on his way to England to deliver an important message for the Cardinal when he was overtaken by the young D'Artagnan, who as we know was on an errand for the Queen. Richelieu, who had forseen that the Queen would need to get the diamond studs from England closed the ports to everyone without an order signed by him. Luckily for D'Artagnan, he found someone with an order and took it from him, and thus, was able to save the day.
7. I have no need for verbal communication; it might be because I'm swallowing paper to protect against it being found. I may seem weak and useless, but when push comes to shove, I came through for my master.

Answer: Grimaud

Grimaud, who is Athos' servant, was perhaps the most disciplined of all of the lackeys. He very rarely spoke, rather he received signals from Athos which gave him instructions. One of the few times he did speak though, was when he noticed that Richelieu was spying on our four friends.
8. Milady de Winter betrayed and took advantage of my brother. I extracted my vengeance upon her by killing her many years later.

Answer: The Executioner of Lille

Athos arranged for the executioner of Lille to be present at Milady's "trial". The executioner then rowed across the Lys River and executed Milady on the banks. The old nemesis of the Musketeers, and particularly Athos, was finally gone.
9. I was originally hired to kill Monsieur D'Artagnan by Milady de Winter while D'Artagnan was on a spying mission against the Rochellais. I failed in my mission but was forgiven by D'Artagnan. In the ultimate twist of irony, I saved D'Artagnan's life after I unknowingly drank poisoned wine-which was sent by my former employer, Milady de Winter.

Answer: Brisemont

Brisemont was originally hired by Milady to kill D'Artagnan when D'Artagnan went on a secret mission. Fortunately for D'Artagnan, Brisemont and his companion had horrible aim and missed D'Artagnan with their muskets. D'Artagnan, good soul that he is, forgave him and invited him to drink some of the wine which was supposedly sent from Athos, Porthos, and Aramis.

However, it was actually poisoned wine sent from Milady, and caused the death of Brisemont, who was the first to drink.
10. I was one of the guardsmen who found D'Artagnan, Athos, Porthos, and Aramis dueling in the Convent of Carmes Deschaux. When these four musketeers saw us, they brutally attacked us! Although we lost the fight, I made an impression in the memory of these four musketeers, who had the pleasure of meeting my son in "The Man in the Iron Mask".

Answer: Biscarrat

If you got that right, then congratulations! Biscarrat was one of the four guardsmen who attacked our four heroes. Later on in "The Man in the Iron Mask" Biscarrat's son has the pleasure of meeting both Porthos and Aramis, both of whom fondly remember that duel so long ago. I hope you enjoyed the quiz!
