(2005) Charlize Theron plays Josey Aimes, a tough but beautiful woman who is forced to take a job in the coal mines to support her children after she leaves her abusive husband, however, she faces extreme adversity from the other miners, the majority of which are men who hardly welcome a woman's presence in the mines and respond to her presence with abuse and harassment. Frances McDormand plays Glory, a more experienced female miner who helps Josey learn the ropes of the coal mine and how to survive in its setting.
