Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In Acts, she and her husband lied to the early church about the sale of their land.

Answer: Sapphira

Sapphira and her husband Ananias were believers in the early church. They sold some land and kept aside some of the money. When Ananias went to Peter to give him money, in order to appear more generous than he was, Ananias told Peter that he was giving all of the money to the church. Peter called him on it, saying that Ananias was lying to the Holy Spirit, and Ananias died instantly. Later, when Sapphira was asked if that was all the money they had received for the land, she continued the lie and also died.
2. In John, Jesus met this woman at the well and told her about her sins. Afterward she went to her village and told them she had met the Messiah.

Answer: Samaritan Woman

The Samaritan woman was shocked when Jesus told her that she'd had 5 husbands and the man she was living with was not even her husband. Because he told her that she needed living water to quench her need, and that he was that living water, she believed that he was the Messiah.
3. She was a prophetess during the reign of Josiah. She predicted that destruction would come to the people because of their idol worship. However, because Josiah was humbled this destruction would not occur until after his reign.

Answer: Huldah

During the reign of Josiah, the book of the law was found. When he realized that they had been going against God's will, Josiah tore his robe in anguish and went to the prophetess Huldah. Because of his humbling himself before God, Huldah told him that though God would punish the people for their idol worship it wouldn't take place until after Josiah's reign had ended.

This is found in 2 Kings 22.
4. Sisera was delivered into her hands because of Barak's lack of faith.

Answer: Jael

When Deborah commanded Barak to lead his troops against Sisera, he declared he wouldn't go unless she did. Because of his lack of faith in God, Deborah told him that Sisera would be defeated by the hands of a woman. Jael invited Sisera into her tent where she then plunged a stake into his temple, killing him. This is found in Judges 4.

Answer: Potiphar's wife

Answer: Priscilla

8. Why was Martha upset with Mary during Jesus' visit to their home?

Answer: Mary wasn't helping Martha with the work

Martha, though a faithful follower of Jesus, got caught up in the work of the moment, while Mary took the time to worship Jesus. An account of this is in Luke 10.
9. Mary Magdalene was the first to see the risen Lord, according to the Gospel of John.
