Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. You met this person named Jo/Joe in the chat rooms. Who could be Jo/Joe?

Answer: Jo could be short for Josephine or Joe could be a guy's name or you could have met someone lying about their name

Yes, Jo could stand for Josephine or Joe could stand for Joseph. If you are going to chat in the "chat rooms," please do NOT use your real name. This is asking for trouble. Only use a stage name or shortened name.
2. I've been chatting with Rob for the past three months, he seems like a really nice guy. What information would it be okay to give to Rob?

Answer: Marital Status

If you insist on giving Rob anything, only give him your marital status. Never under any circumstances, give out your social security number. Many companies ask to verify your information now with DOB and/or your mother's maiden name. So please avoid giving this information out.
3. I really want to meet Ron. I know he lives in the same city as me. He sent me his photo and he's so cute. I really know him inside and out from our chatting on-line. No one is going to talk me out of meeting him. Where is the safest place for me to meet him for the first time?

Answer: A noisy restaurant

If you insist on meeting Ron, please at least meet at a busy restaurant and preferably during a busy dinner time hour. I would also like to suggest that you bring a friend or even another couple to sit close by you. Not everyone is honest about themselves on the internet and Ron might not be who he appears to be.
4. Do guys and girls really lie in the Internet chat rooms?

Answer: Yes

Most definitely yes! I have heard many, many different stories. I personally knew one guy that pretended he was a girl. He would meet women, as friends, and then tell the women about this "great guy" that he knows. Ahhhh, a date in progress. Never trust anyone on the net!
5. Should I ever send money to someone that I met in the chat rooms?

Answer: No

I would strongly suggest that you NOT send cash or checks to anyone that you meet on the net. If someone needs to "borrow" some cash, have them check with the local bank - NOT YOU!
6. I like this FunTrivia site. I want the perks of a "gold member" but should I send money for something like this, is it usually safe to send funds through Pay Pal and other secure sites?

Answer: Yes

Yes, feel free to use secure sites to pay for services. I personally like to use Pay Pal for payments on-line. You set a limit to your spending. This service works for many different sites. It's almost foolproof. I say almost, because anything can happen on-line. There are many sites where you can use your credit cards, but once again. Nothing is 'untouchable!' Just be careful!
7. I've been writing back and forth with Andy. He's such a nice guy, but he doesn't like when I write in all 'caps'. I just sent him the sweetest e-mail. This is what I said. "AN- , I RELLY LIKE R TALKS, U SEM LIKE A NIC GUY. I RELLY LIKE U A LOT 2. HOW DO U FEEL BOUT ME?" Do you think that Andy will be impressed with this e-mail?

Answer: No

If you really are interested in a sweet and kind relationship on-line, first look at your words to make sure they are spelled correctly. Feel free to use a spell check program. Secondly, you want to make sure that you do not use all caps. This means that you are yelling at someone. That's not nice, use lower and upper case letters. Spend time on your e-mails, it really does make a difference.
8. Bob and I have been talking on-line for a whole year. When Bob sent me his photo, he looked just like Mel Gibson. I couldn't wait to meet him Friday night. When I got to the restaurant, Bob looked more like Daffy Duck than Mel Gibson. What is the kindest thing to do?

Answer: Ask why he felt that he had to send someone else's picture

I personally would ask why he could not be honest with me. We had this great on-line relationship for a year and he couldn't tell me the truth. I would want to know why?
9. I was chatting with Mark for 6 months now. We finally met at McDonalds for a lunch. He seems so nice. We had a great time too. We went out to my car and my tire was flat. Should I accept a ride home from Mark?

Answer: No

Please stay with your vehicle. If Mark is a true gentleman, he will help you fix your tire or call AAA or someone that could help you. If Mark really respects you, he'll wait with you and meet you again at another time.
10. Joshua, this guy I met on-line says that he is a "cracker." Could a "cracker" be a bad thing?

Answer: Yes

Yes, crackers can get into your computer and find information about you. Crackers can get into the "back door" of the system. You can read more about crackers and hacking at hacker.com.
