Ksenia Afanasyeva injured her back training at worlds and could not compete. Aliya Mustafina was too young for worlds, but she did win both the Russian Cup and the Russian Championships in 2009. Ksenia Semenova competed at worlds, but had a pretty disastrous competition. Kristina Goryunova did not make the team.
2. Bridget Sloan, who would go on to win the all around, did not have a great qualifying competition. In what place did she qualify?

Answer: 5th

Bridget Sloan of the USA qualified in 5th place, and went on to win gold.
