In the 1955-56 season Leeds United were drawn at home to Cardiff City in the Third Round and lost 2-1. In the following season Leeds United were drawn at home to Cardiff City in the Third Round and lost 2-1. Incredibly, in the season after that Leeds United were drawn at home to Cardiff City in the Third Round, and again lost 2-1.

Then, in the 1958-59 season, Leeds were handed an away Third Round tie at Luton Town. By that time Leeds and Cardiff were probably sick of the sight of each other.
